OK, a few weeks ago I took a bump from my flight and ended up with a $267 voucher for future flights. I was told they were starting to implement electronic vouchers, but it was still a few weeks away so I have a paper one. I know I have to go to the airport (PVD) to use it, but my question is if I'm only booking a flight for $145, what happens to the balance? Are they able to put it into the system for electonic use later (ie. internet fares) or do I receive another paper voucher requiring another trip to the airport to book another flight at a later date?

TIA to anyone who can help!!!

Until the electronic voucher system is implimented, you will receive another paper voucher for the balance.

You also have the option of booking your flight on the internet and requesting reimbursement after your flight, but this means money out of pocket for the time between purchase and flight. You book (and pay) online, then mail your voucher with flight information (after your trip) and they'll refund the credit card used for the purchase and send you a new voucher for the balance remaining. The advantage to this is that you can check in online, when you buy tickets at the airport with your voucher, they issue paper tickets and you have to check in at the airport.

OK, this route won't work since I'd be using the voucher for 2 sets of airfare, so wouldn't get the money back until April of 2007. But what if I go to PVD, book both flights while there so the voucher gets used up and I'm in the system. Then can I make adjustments electronically - say a sale comes along - and return the $$$ saved to a ticketless travel fund??? Or should I just call SW and ask them???

Thanks for all the answers so far!!! :teeth:

GREAT question!!!! I think when you go to the counter you get paper tickets, and I don't think you can do anything with them online.
Book the flights separately and go the route already mentioned. It would probably cause two trips to PVD, but, at least you can change the flights.
Besides, April 07 airfares are not even out yet.

OK, just got off the phone with a SW CS Rep and decided to do this route:
Since I only need OW for my next trip, I'm going to PVD and book it in person. Then I'll get another paper voucher for the balance.

When I book my March trip, I'll do it on-line with a CC. Then, once I complete that trip, I'll send the new paper voucher in with trip conf. # to get credit on my CC.

Thanks for all you time and input!!! :teeth:
