SWA- not enough RR points?

DH's account does not have enough RR points for a round trip ticket. I know I can book one way with points and the return with cash, but can I do this in one transaction? If he has enough points for the trip down but only 2000 towards the return trip, will they use the 2000 points and charge me the balance, or will I have to pay for the entire return in cash?

You can't combine points and cash, so you'll have pay the return in cash or puhase/transfer points to obtain enough to pay all in points. One or the other. You'll probably find that paying in points for one way and the return in cash will be your best option.

How many more points does he need? You can always buy more points.

I ended up transferring points from DH's account to mine and buying 2000 points to add to my account. The round-trip fare was $285 but I ended up spending $125 for one-way and $75 for the transferring/purchasing for the other leg of the trip, so saved $85 overall. I'll take it!
