Sw just sent me an email for a sale on the tickets I already have. So, I know how to cancel a flight but I am worried if I cancel and then book the new one it will sell out, I know I am probably crazy. Anyone have experience changing their SW tickets for the cheaper sale price.

Hope this isn't too late for you. Log onto the SWA site with two windows open. Look up the confirmation number for the itinerary you are holding and head over to Travel Center. Open up "Change Itinerary" and select the flight you want. The extra funds will now show up under "Ticketless Travel Funds." HTH

Ah THANKS! That was easy. Am I right in thinking after our trip we can call and get a refund?

It depends on what type of fare your original tickets were and what CSR you get on the phone.

You may end up with a 1yr credit from original purchase date ( not travel date).

I changed to a lower fare then called the main toll number for Customer Service and got the refund before we travelled.

FYI. In May, I wanted to change our ressies from a Click n save fare to a Ding fare. You cannot do that on the "Change your flight" screen. The Ding flight must be a whole new reservation. A little gymnastics and I saved about $100.

How I got around it so I didn't lose my original flights and using the same money I had already paid: I called customer service and at the same time I was booking online the new Ding flights. When it comes up with payment, I had to wait for the customer service rep to cancel our flights and the money became immediately available. According to my friend who happens to be a CSR at SW, sometimes the money isn't available right away. It might take a minute to an hour for it to become available if I had cancelled online and then try to rebook. I got a credit towards future flights which I am going to use soon. It took a few minutes to do this. The CSR was very nice and worked great.

Cool, I just got my refund. :cool1: It wasn't a ding just a sale so I could change it online and then I just called today and they said no problem they would give me the difference. Only $20 but I will take it. (Especially since I just had my water heater fixed today, ouch)

I booked a ding rate and then the price went down so I rebooked. I called 2 different numbers at SW but was told both times that I could not get a refund, only a credit on future travel. The price just went down again so now I have a $320 credit - which is great, however, I booked the original tickets so long ago that I don't know if I'll travel again before the credit expires. What number did y'all call to get a refund? Thanks!

I called customer relations I think you would have better luck there I hope.
