i have an internet special fare of $79 and saw a Ding fare for less... how do i switch it over? i know if a regular fare came out lower i would go thru the travel center but i am unsure how to replace my current fare with a ding fare... is there a way?

You would go about it the same way you would with a regular fare. I cancelled ours online and then used the tickless travel funds towards the Ding fare. It all works the same way. Just make sure the Dings fare is available for you dates and the amount of people you have before you go canceling it. You can cancel it online.

you should be able to do this, but you might have to cancel your INTERNET Special first to get the credit under your LOCATOR, then book very quickly the new flight using the ticketless funds (there will be some left over of course which will have to be used within a year of the original booking )

suggest you have two browser open and ready to go....

as soon as you cancel, you should be able to book using the ticketless funds

on the third screen of the DING booking procedure

Southwest Airlines Payment and Passenger Information

there is a section where you can Apply Ticketless TravelSM Funds

it now seems when you use ding it pulls up all the fares available but DING Is in the last column just past Internet One Way

we have done this a couple of times with no problems, the only thing that might go wrong is if they did not have the required number of seats at the price you want....

ahah! see, when switching from one "regular" fare to another, even for the same flights, you don't have to cancel and re-book... but if i understand correctly, you do have to cancel/re-book in order to switch to a DING fare... i'm not sure i am confident that the DING fare will be there when i am ready for it, kwim? and would hate to lose a $79 fare and have to book a higher one (multiplied by 8 people!)!

I do exactly like the previous poster, lawgs, and open 2 browser windows. I have the one with the Ding fare up fro the # of tickets I need, and I take it right up to the point where payment is entered. I then cancel the other ressie on the other window, and then use the confirmation # for payment.

gigi,

think the only way to get to DING fares is to go through the DING portal, although i was surprised today to see all the other fares listed with the DING being in the last column

do not know if it appears in the "travel center" scenario

thanks! i will have to be quick on the draw i guess... at least i am forewarned... thank you again :)
