Our friends are booking with SW. Prices are high, so they are hoping to receive a credit. What is the best way to book 3 passengers. Is it best to book 3 one way or 3 roundtrip? I wasn't sure what would happen if one part of the trip was reduced and the other part increased. Any pros or cons with either method? Thanks!

I always book each way individually...this way if a lower "ding" fare comes up it's easy to cancel and rebook

I book each way individually as well. It doesn't cost extra to do it.

Also, make sure the price listed for 3 is the same as listed for 1. If you book for 3 it will price it at the lowest price for all 3. If there is a lower price for 1 person, it won't use that. Recently I had to book my wife and myself separately. that way I got a lower price for one ticket and the slightly higher price for the other.

Thanks everyone. I'll pass it along. Isn't crazy to have to go through all of this :)

Booking one way is the only way you can do it on Southwest. There is never an added fee for a one way ticket and no charges to make a change to either leg of the journey.

Booking one way is not the only way you can book on SWA. Round trip is easily available. Booking one ways each way helps if you get a lower DING! or other sale fare and one leg is cheaper than the other

You book one leg at a time. Its the only choice on the web-site. Selecting round trip only serves to bring up the return leg. There is no difference in pricing unless you receive a particular offer for a specially selected trip.

we like to book each way it makes it much easier if the flight goes down in price

I remember seeing an easy way to rebook if a SW fare changes on DIS. Does anyone know where I can find it? thanks

You can make any changes on the SW website. Pull up your reservation by the number and it will have an option to change your flight choice. There is no charge to do so.

If you book roundtrip and later one way drops you can rebook only that leg. I did this last year without a problem. Their website change page asks seperatly what you want to do for each leg. I change one and leave the other as-is.

Be aware that this can't be done for a DING! fare. For that, you have to cancel your existing reservation and rebook via the DING! window.

I rebooked my flight using a promortion code. Cancelled the first flight - the email told me I had SW credits as it was not refundable. How do I tell when they put the credit in my account? Or how do I get them to use that instead of charging my CC?

pull up the itinerary # from original res, the total ticketless travel funds will be indicated as well as the expiry date.

when rebooking another flight, u can use 2 different forms of credit along w/a credit card. simply apply the itinerary # then @ final payment page.

May not be reading you correctly, but it sounds as though you booked a new flight, then cancelled the original one. If so, it's whole credit will be associated with that itinerary & your CC will have been charged for the entire amount due of the replacement flight.

If the above is true, try calling SWA & explaining you were confused & ask if they can sort this out for you...i.e., cancelling the 2nd flight & rebooking using the credit from the 1st.

good luck, post back & let us know how it worked out for you:wizard:
