I'm new to the world of home computers. Always had one at work never home. So I'm a newbie with many things. Someone told me you could print your own boarding pass for SWA before going to the airport?? How early can you do this?? What if you have children under 3? Can you still do this?? Thanks for the help.

I don't know if having children under three affects your ability to check-in online, but you should be able to print your boarding passes anytime after 12:01am on the day you fly.

If the child does not have a child fare, then you are good to go. You would have had to call SWA for a child fare.

It works great and when we stayed at WL in December, we asked if someone at the front desk could print our return boarding passes out and they happily did. Very convenient!!! :goodvibes

Cannot answer that, but, I can tell you they only set their schedule 4-6 months out and NEVER change it like other airlines do.

More importantly why is SWA one of the only airlines with no assigned seating?? Seems in this post 9/11 age very poor security. How can they reconstruct anything??

SWA allows people with small children to board first before anyone else.

SWA keeps costs very low using a number of techniques and one of these is no assigned seating. This relieves the company of the need for many more customer service agents to deal with seat requests and the like. If you notice at many airports, one or two SWA employees can manage two gates at the busiest times. Other airlines need two employees at the gate desk and one at the door to the jetway. Unassigned seating means lower fares for us!!

I am staying at Wilderness lodge and Ciera, how did you get the front desk to print out your boarding pass? Did you tell them the website and your password, they had to check you in for the boarding pass and everything? Seems like a big deal, are they used to doing this, I will have my notebook computer at the WLV but have no way of printing.

thanks

To check in online requires no password, you just go to the travel center. You will hand them your confirmation and they will take care of the rest, they are quite familiar with this procedure.

With what you need to go throught to get to the gate, I hardly think this is an issue. Also, people with assigned seating move seats all the time. I feel confident if the TSA thought this was an issue, SWA would be assigning seats now.

OP...we fly SW all of the time and I can offer the following. If you have children under 5-6 they will let you "pre-board"; the only people who will go before you will be people in wheelchairs. I would just go to the airport as early as usual and get whatever assignment they give you; even if it's a "C", you'll get to pre-board. Regarding on-line check in, my kids have been 7 and older when we've done this. A few times they wouldn't let us print boarding passes for the kids, but as long as DH and/or I got an "A", the whole family got to board "A". Hope this helps!

Preboarding is limited to those under 5 and people with special needs.
Often, if there are many families with children, they suspend the preboarding for children and only allow folks with special needs to preboard.
The preboarding rules are easily found on the web site under Travel center.
