Why would there be a deal on airfare during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year? I would be buying my tickets today, when there are still some good WN fares left. I just did a dummy booking BWI-MCO for that week and tickets were available each way for less than $110. That's a good price.

If they come up with any decent prices at all for Thanksgiving it will be probably at the end of October - to fill up flights that are all the way full - but even then I wouldn't expect anything lower than 200.00 each way from Texas (at least from Houston).

I booked my Thanksgiving flights on the day SWA opened and got a great fare (298 rd trip - 21st thru 29th). But the next day it jumped to almost 400.00 just looked - now it is 378 for the same flights.

Don't where you are in Texas but the flights out of Austin on Jet Blue aren't too bad $ wise- it maybe worth looking in other options.

Last year we went the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. We paid about $250.00 ea ticket on SWA round trip, out of Philly. We bought the tickets between late June early July, can't remember for sure.

This year flight prices are so much higher, we are going back and forth on when to buy our tickets for the 1st of Nov., but the 1st is on a weekend. If you fly mid week it is so much cheaper. I am learning that the hard way this year.

I would grab a price that seems right to you. If you can check mid week.

I would book sooner than later just to be sure. We are traveling the actual weekend of Thanksgiving and due to school/sports schedule we needed to be home by the Monday after. Well SW didn't offer Wanna Get Away Fares in most markets on Sunday, 12/1 so we are coming home late Saturday which will work out fine.

I booked our fares immediately and they have already gone up $115 per person since I booked them. We have traveled this same weekend 3 times before and flights rarely if ever have been lowered for our travel times/destination.

If you plan to rent a car, you might check flying in/out of Tampa. However, be aware of flying in and out of different airports with a rental car - depending on your rental agency, the drop fee can easily exceed any savings.
