SW Rapid Rewards?

This is probably a really dumb question....I opened the SW Visa card awhile back in order to get the two free flights. I'm ready to redeem them but is it for two round-trip flights or is each flight just for one way? In other words, one round trip flight uses up the two free flights? Thanks

The flights are all points based, you can check on their website by signing into rapid rewards. I got 50,000 points when I signed up and I should be able to get 8 one way tickets from CT to FL when I book.

I think I must be using older type credits because there were no points involved, just "two free flights". I was thinking that was two round trip flights but I think that was just wishful thinking on my part!

Is it the card through chase?

If you log into chase, you can click to view your rewards and it will redirect you to their site. As far as I know SW only gives rewards in the form of points not.

Try checking out your account and see.

The awards had a number of restrictions, including black out dates and limited seats on each flight. But they were good for full flights, regardless of whether the retail value was $63 or $630.

If that's what you have, then the free flights from the credit card offer were supposed to be round trip. Log into your RR account and click on the "Where are my old Awards" to see them and to use them to book your flights. IIRC, those awards had an expiration date, so you might want to make sure that they are still good. I remember reading that you cannot pay to extend their expiration date, probably because SWA does not want to have those old Awards hanging around forever.

You can pay to extend the old RR. It is $50 for each and extends for 1 or 2 years (can't remember at this moment). My husband flys SW for work so we had about RR we extended.

I'm pretty sure that the promotional awards could not be extended it. It was one of the major gripes for flyers who took advantage of the credit card offer right before the switch to RR 2.0. Standard awards which were earned by actually flying could be extended one time for a fee.

This is what I had and they expire May 10th so that's why I'm finally getting around to using them. Had no trouble booking a round trip for myself but then the rewards were gone so I'm figuring the two free flights were one way (so I could use them both for the round trip). I thought all along that it was two round-trip flights but I guess that was dumb of me! When I had the SW Visa card I also used it enough in the first three months to earn $500 in gift cards as well as the free flights so at least I could use that for my husband's flight.

Was hoping to hold the gift cards for a Disney trip in the future but oh well!

Yes it's all points based. The "two free flights" might as well say "$500 in amazon gift cards" or "two free weeks of car rentals" or anything that you can get through rapid rewards points. It's a sick deal, basically free money.

You need to call them. It should have been two round trip flights. I did the same promotion last year (before they changed to points) and got two round trip flights that we used in November.

Thank you! After reading this I did call but no one could find the terms of the offer for back when I got the card, so they are "escalating" it to see if someone knows. In retrospect I wish I had gotten actual points instead of these free flights so at least I'd know for sure what I could do.

Note to self: if you ever take advantage of an online promotion again PRINT OUT all the info that goes with the offer so you have it later!
