SW Rapid Rewards idea

If I book a trip using my SW rewards, then I get a Ding for a great fare, can I book the Ding, then cancel the RR ticket and save that for a later date? I guess what I'm asking, is can I have a RR ticket and a Ding ticket for the same flight in the same person's name? (until I cancel one)
