SW Rapid Reward free tix ?

I have a question for you SW veterans. I was so excited to earn my free round trip. We have our trip planned for June 3rd, so I used my free trip for me, (the reward expires June 30th) and booked the rest of my gang as I normally do.

However, we learned a couple of weeks ago that MIL's cancer is back with a vengance, and this time, there's nothing they can do for her. The doctors are giving her 2 to 4 months. So, there's a strong probability this trip isn't going to take place.

I'm not worried about cancelling the rest of my family's airfare, I know SW is wonderful about giving you credit, but does anyone know if there's any way I can save my free trip? Depending on how things go, we may try to reschedule our trip for mid August. I've never earned a free trip before, so Im not sure what the rules are. Has anyone ever had to cancel a rapid rewards trip?

Rapid Rewards award reservations can be cancelled. The awards go back to available status in your account with their original expiration dates.

If your award expires, it can be reissued for $50 (and good for another 12 months from date of reissue).

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured it was somewhere on the SW site, I just wasnt thinking clearly to figure where to look. So, thanks for the info (especially that I can pay $50 for it to be "renewed" for the year).
