SW price drop!!!

Well, it's a good thing I caught that WGA fare of $105 yesterday. Just checked & it is now $445!!! Crazy.

Same here! I just checked and our return flight is still at $104, but flight to MCO went back up to $292. Not quite as big of a jump as yours, but still pretty significant.

I guess yesterday was the day to book. My trips went from $70 to $95 and $109 to $208 today.

wow - I have never noticed such massive price jumps with southwest! Must have something to do with the cities. We don't fly from a SW hub so always do non-direct flights and our flight prices tend to move quite slowly.

I agree it must depend on the city. But Buffalo isn't a hub either. The number of nonstops is down considerably in the fall from previous schedules. And the prices range from $79 on weekday & less popular weekend flights to $400 plus on weekends & some weekday flights. No rhyme or reason to their pricing it seems.

I don't know what time you booked yesterday, but I thought the law changed & you are allowed to cancel & get a refund within 24 hours after you book. If you are within 24 hours of booking, it might be worth a call & see if you can get the $33 refunded instead.
Thanks I'll call and ask.

I actually thought the same thing. I thought in the past if I changed the flight in less than 24 hours online it gave me the option of refund or credit. This time though it didn't give me that option. It only said nonrefundable credit. So I thought my memory was wrong.

Its a legal thing - all airlines are supposed to give you a full 24 hours to change your mind. I've done it and gotten my refund easily.

One of my flights dropped today. I was originally booked on the last flight of the day from ISP-MCO. I paid $130 for the flight. All of the other flights for the day were over $200. Yesterday I saw that an afternoon flight dropped to $163. I decided to pay the extra $33 per person to switch the flight. Of course this morning when I checked it had dropped to $130 :headache:. So I could have switched without paying anything extra. We each have $33 credit now but I don't think we'll get to use it.

Probably only a original booking of a reservation allows a 24 hour cancel period.

Changing a flight most likely would not give a person 24 hours to cancel it.

Cancelling and rebooking would be the way to achieve the 24 hour grace period.

*please excuse me if I missed the point*

I stalked sw like a crazy person too. First check was $287 pp EACH WAY from RDU to MCO nonstop in May. I was shocked! I waited another week or so, checked a few times that day, and the last time I checked in the evening BOOM!! $69 each way pp! Bought those tix lightening fast!!!! No way on earth I'd pay southwest nearly $1200 to fly from RDU! Gotta stalk those airfares!

Wednesday's price drop was what spurred me to book flights (we had been leaning toward driving); IND-MCO went from $1300 for four to $750 (and I bought gift cards with my REDcard to even more!).

I didn't, however, know that you could get a credit if the price goes down.

After seeing this thread, I checked, and our return flight had gone down $30! It's nice to know we've already got a bit of money set aside for our next flight!

Yes exactly what they said.

Sorry, guess I missed that it was a change & not an original booking.

Just remember the credit must be used within 1 year of the original booking date, not the date you got the credit. And the credit is only good for the individual whose name it is in. Can't share the credits or give them to someone else to use.
