SW opening up dates on Sept. 28th??

I am on another chat board on TripAdvisor and someone said they JUST received an e-mail regarding SW opening dates for flights on September 28th. NOT October 5th like has been previously reported and on the SW site.

I'm wondering if anyone else has received this info/can confirm this. I am booking a trip and had October 5th as the date- I'm so excited that I might be able to book even earlier! It doesn't feel like we are truly going until I have our tickets.

I received my Rapid Rewards Newsletter today and it states that the flight schedule is tentatively scheduled to open 9/28.

I think it's usually around 11:00 AM Eastern time, but I check constantly just in case.

Question - if you book a fare and it goes down or you want to make a change to a different AIRPORT, do they also do that with no penalties? Because maybe we can book now and then change to Newark or maybe they will include Newark departures in the next round of tickets released...not sure how to handle this.

Yes, you can do this without penalty with SWA. Is Newark a new airport for SWA? If so, flights will be included for the time that SWA starts serving Newark.

Thanks...yes, I heard that they will be in Newark starting in March, and we are hoping to go for DS' spring break week! I will just bite the bullet and get the tickets as soon as we can. Woot!

How far in advance does SW book their flights? Our trip is June 2-12. So I can book my flight there on the 9/28 (or 10/5), but I am trying to figure out when I can book the other flight!

Oh I hate this when they change it and it becomes a shorter time. We are waiting for May and I had hoped on Oct 5 I could finally set up our flights... Come on SW give us a break!!!!

I always trust the RR newsletter since it's up to date and it hasn't let me down yet.

We are booked to return home on March 11 (since they didn't have flights past that). If they have a flight on March 12 at a good price, can I move to that without penalty? And can I do it myself online or do I need to call?

Yes to both. There is no penalty to change the flight, although if the flight you are changing to costs more than what you paid for the March 11th flight, you will have to pay the difference. It is very easy to change flights online. Start by clicking "Change Flight" on the home page under My Travel, and you'll find easy to follow instructions. Good luck!
