Hi! Wondered if getting TWO one way tickets (rather than round trip) makes it impossible to print a boarding pass ahead of time (in other words, are you stuck checking in at the airport)? One of our dates is on sale and the other is not so I was thinking of buying the one way that's on sale and then buying the other later, but I love checking in online and would hate to jeopardize that. Thanks for your help. The experience on this board is great!

You can still check in on line with a 1 way ticket. Works the same as a RT since you can only print out the boarding passes for the leg you are about to board anyways.

You can't print out your BP online if you're selected for special security screening. This can happen if your name or a similar name is on the watch list. Some passengers are selected at random.

One way tickets increase the chance. Make sure you pay with a credit card. List your FF number on your reservation, even if you don't think you'll be flying enough to earn a free tickect. A one way reservation a day or two before your flight also increases the chances.

If you can't print a BP wait a few minutes and try again. After your try 3 or 4 times give up but GET TO THE AIRPORT EARLY. It'll take you a little longer to get through security.

Thanks Lewisc! I appreciate your imput...all good advice.

I've had a few times where I flew on one way tickets and each time I was not able to checkin online. And each time after checking in at the airport I got pulled aside for "individual screening". The SW agent said there was a special code on the boarding pass that alerts the security folks. Good luck to you.

I guess that I have been one of the lucky ones. I have had several 1 way tickets to and from MCO and have never been selected for additional screening.

One of my last 1 way combos was truely a 1 way. I drove to Deltona with DS and flew back to BOS on Song. I even changed this flight to a later date about 14 days before.

This last trip in June, we flew down on SW and back on Song. We were able to print BP's in advance and just flew thru security.

Don't sweat what you can't control. Just plan on being at the airport early, you will be fine.
