SW new dates and holding out for Lower fare

Okay now that southwest has extended their booking dates, how many of you are holding out for a lower price? MHT to MCO would cost me about 215 per person (inc. tax). Times are available that I like, but I would just love for under 150 round trip (I have to buy 4 tickets). I could hold out for dings, but we are traveling friday to friday....not always that best days for a ding!!! Ughhhhhh, decisions decisions!!!!

WOW! I just posted about the fares from Tucson and Phoenix. We are all wondering the same thing- hold out for cheaper or book and hope for a sale or reduction in fares. Hmmmmm.......

I just booked 8 seats for Thanksgiving - Den/MCO 99.00 down, 180 back.
Had to go to a meeting, by the time I came back all the $99.00 returns were gone already. Just an hour after they released the fares. But I grabbed them. Still $300.00 RT, but at least it is non-stop and is better than the $450 I had been looking at with other carriers.

Doubt I will get a Ding for Thanksgiving, but one can hope!

I am jealous of those who can fly MCO for under $150.00

I have tickets for MHT to MCO in August and it took forever for SW to release really good fares out of MHT - I bought on April 19th at $122 and it took until June 28th to get $59 each way, but they offered better fares out of Providence much sooner, I don't know if that would be an option.

I have booked my flight home but not my flight there.

There is only 1 option for us to get home so I thought I would grab it. The price wasn't too bad. Also if it goes down I can apply the credit to my flight to get there.

I am just sooo happy they are finally released.

We are looking for 10 tickets MHT > MCO, non-stop a must!

I booked @ the $215, if they drop, we'll hopefully get the credit (flying again in January so that would be great for credit to apply).

The same flight is now up to $275, so I'm glad I booked this AM.

You can always book a current fare, and then if a cheaper one comes out, cancel the ones you have and apply the fare in your ticketless funds to the new flights.

If you do that, one should probably have two computers going. The first one pulls up the tickets to cancel while the other one "holds" the tickets you are booking so as soon as you cancel you can complete the second transaction.

We are traveling from Phoenix, also. And, the fares are horrible ... even on Thanksgiving Day which is a slow time, supposedly. I went ahead and book free ticket flights (be aware of the changes in the SWA program -- see my thread on that) and then if a lower price comes up I will buy mine as my company reimburses me for it since I have to do some business down there during the trip -- and cancel the free one. I am hoping that they come out with some specials in the months ahead.

But, if you must have your particular dates with no flexibility, I would book it to make sure you have a seat.

We booked today . We got $215 r/t Hartford to Orlando--got nonstop at great times too. I'm happy with that--the way things are going, I had budgeted much more for airfare. If a ding comes out--cool, but if not that's okay too. If the fares were more than $250 r/t we probably would have waited. One less thing to worry about now.

When I looked this morning, it was still holding at the end of October. When I just got home from work and checked, it opened through December, but all the internet fares ($99) were gone for my outbound trip. It is available for my return flight @ $107.80, so I may go ahead and book that now, but the lowest fare to MCO from MHT was at $165.80 w/tax. The round trip ticket with tax would be $273.60 and I know I can do better than that.

Now I'm getting really worried. I called SW to see what the fare would be through them and it was the same $157 plus tax that's online. I asked her if she thought they might drop some with DING, but she said it depended. If the flights were filling up at the current fares, than she did not think they would. Then I just opened my contract for my heating oil and it's gone up by $0.60 per gallon from last year. With oil prices increasing, now I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet, pay the $165.80 or hold out for a little longer to see if they come down. My other concern is my outbound flight is the day after Thanksgiving.

Thanks. I was so busy at work today, I did not get the chance to look again, after I looked the first time (usually check as soon as I get in). That's what I thought, but needed to hear it from someone else. It's just alot more than I thought it would be. I also checked to see if it would be cheaper to fly down that Saturday after Thanksgiving, versus the Friday after Thanksgiving. There are no cheap fares to be found there. I also looked at going the week before Thanksgiving and ran into the same fares.

Worst case scenario, I either pay more for the ticket or I change my dates of travel. As this is a solo trip, there is more flexibility. Thanks again. Made me feel alot better.

With the cost of fuel continuing to rise, I would be very leary of waiting for prices to drop. But if you must, good luck.

Wow, I think I would book it. That is such a busy time to fly, I'd be really surprised to see any ding fares come available for that weekend. I fly out of MHT and I've been watching all the fares out of there for the last year.

We are traveling Nov 2 - 7th and I booked my two free RT. I'm waiting for the fares to come down to book my DD. I'm hoping for something under $150 but would be happy with $175. It's a Thur to Tue trip so hopefully it will drop. I don't think the flight will fill up on those days that time of year. I'm a cheapo.

I booked our ALB to MCO flights today as I wanted NONSTOP and specific times (morning outbound/evening return)-right now our round trip tickets are around $265. each, but I'm hoping they'll go down somewhat and we'll get the credit.

Anyway-they're still less than all the other carriers right now-I think our next lowest was on US Air for around $315-and that's with layovers.

Actually all you have to do is go to the home page and click on "travel center" and then click on "change reservation" under the air heading. It will ask for your confirmation # and your name and then show you the flights and you can pick them again. I would think that this would be safer than totally cancelling and then rebuying. It went pretty fast and was easier than I thought it would be. I noticed today that my flights were cheaper and called the number and she told me exactly what to do. Now I have an $80 credit!!!!!!

Well the flights are still available, but I think I am going to hold out a bit longer. I figure JetBlue has been 119 each way for the past 2 months, so if all else fails I can book those flights. Keep our fingers crossed!!
