SW lost our luggage

I think you did well with the voucher. We've had Southwest lose our bags and the most we've gotten is our bags delivered to us when they finally showed up.

It was aggravating but it never occurred to me that we should be compensated. It's one of the risks of air travel, no?

All a behind-the-scenes look will do for you is make you wonder how any bag actually MAKES it to its proper destination!!

But if I went behind the scenes, I'll bet I'd find out----

Truly... you got your bag. And a voucher in case you were willing to try flying them again. Do you honestly believe you are somehow entitled to MORE? please!

They never optioned the choice of delivery or voucher, I chose to pickup because I did not want to have to wait for delivery. I had no idea that they were going to give me a voucher until it was handed to me. Just figured maybe could get a little more out of them, sure it will not hurt them financially.

They gave us a $50 voucher for future travel but it expires in 1 year, has this ever happened to anyone else with SW and if so should I call them and try to get more? I know it could have been much worse but it really messed up our first day of vacation.

DH has had his clothes stay an extra 24 hours or so two times now during business travel. Each time he was happy to get it back and happy that they drive it to him.

Both times he arrived quicker than his luggage were when he was coming home, which sounds easier than being on vacation, BUT he doesn't have many clothes. So apart from the clothes on his back, he had nothing else until his bag arrived...

After the first time he agreed he should keep an extra set of clothes in his carryon...after the second time he started doing it.

ALWAYS a good idea to keep extra stuff in your carryon, just in case your bags take a bit longer to get to your destination!

And no, I don't think you should go for more compensation. you got more than most get already.

Really, really, I mean, you were not expecting anything in the first place, you received something and now you want more? Seriously, I personally believe this is very greedy and uncalled for.

Also, to correct many people, luggage is rarely lost, it is more often delayed, but even then it is pretty rare. Lost luggage means it is never found, which doesn't happen often. One should prepare for either situation though and understand their rights if luggage is delayed (ie. split packing needs, insurance, coverage offered via CoC, etc.)

THANK YOU! It was driving me crazy that the OP (and others) were referring to their luggage as "lost" and then, in the next sentence, stating that they got them within a day or so.

"Delayed" and "Lost" mean very different things.

And I'm with most of the others - No, OP, I don't think that you deserve anything more.
