My god, I just started looking into booking our November (early) flights and the cost is CRAZY!! I typically book our November trip flights late this month, or early September--so I guess that it is still early. But, I have never seen flights start this expensive.

Any ideas when flights start coming down in price? Is it at the 2mos mark, or later than that?

I booked CLE to MCO about 3 weeks ago for $208 pp round trip 11/10-11/19. Since then, flights have continued to go up.

We were originally going to fly 11/10-11/17, but the prices that Saturday were crazy!!!! It was cheaper to stay a few more days.

Adding: I don't know what dates you need, but I found PIT to MCO for $228 pp round trip.

Booked about a month ago with AirTran. MKE - MCO, 5 of us was in the $1100.00 range. I thought that was not bad. I'm glad I booked it. Since then I have been checking for lower fares but only higher. Hoping for lower fares..

Southwest prices we almost half this afternoon than they were this morning. Keep checking.

If you're having to fly through PHL, that could be the reason. NJ week is the first week in November and most of the schools in the state are off that week. The entire state empties out and heads to WDW. Most people in NJ buy their tickets for that week as soon as fares are released, so most likely if flying through PHL, fares won't get any better.

We booked our flights a couple of weeks ago for the last part of November and even then they've only gone up from $162 each way to $190. :sad2:

If the flights are full, they may not go down. I flew PIT-MCO a couple of years ago in June and they never did go down, just went up from around $350 to $400 roundtrip. I ended up flying in the day before.

They can't be flying through PHL because SW cancelled their PIT-PHL flights.

I booked our November airfare moments after the SW schedule was released and I've been watching the roller coaster since then. Prices haven't gone back to the level they were at when the schedule was first open in the wee morning hours, but they are lower this week than what I saw last week.

SW has been very high out of PIT. I was able to get $114pp down, but the lowest return never went below $267. Ended up booking return flight with AirTran @ $138pp. It actually worked out--I liked the flight times better.

If you fly on a weekend the prices are much higher then mid week. Can you change your dates to fly mid week? The best days to fly at a lower price is Tuesday and Wednesday's, sometimes even Thursday.
I stopped flying on the weekends long ago because of this. We only fly Tues. to Tues. or Wed. to Wed.
Hope this info helps you.

We were very lucky to get their $99 sale price for 11/10 out of MHT, but we're flying back to BOS for $110 on Jetblue.

I just booked 2 flights this morning for the first week of Nov and even though we used points, the cash value was about $230 per person round trip. I thought that was reasonable.

You should check Allegiant out of Youngstown, OH. Southwest does a lot of marketing around the 2 bags fly free but you got to remember their fares are not what they used to be in years gone by. There are other options.

We have used them also. We were able to get 2 tickets for what one cost out of CLE. It was just my DH and I that time so we just used carry-ons and paid for our seat assignments.

The issue is you then have to rent a car since they fly into Sanford. Keep that in mind when you are comparing prices.

I don't bother with Allegiant, since they fly into Sanford.
