Ok so if we book the Wanna Travel or whatever rate, we're pretty much gonna get stuck being like the last to board?! I don't understand this new boarding system. :confused3

If that's the case, I'm gonna call and ask for a refund on my tickets for December. I booked DING fares, but at the time, there was no mention of this.

SW has a tendency to overbook flights. There's no way I'm taking the chance of being one of the last to board.

Not true at all. SW has yet to implement any "pay more to board earlier" fare structure, although there are longstanding rumors that they are considering doing so in the future. The changes only have families with small children "preboarding" after the A group instead of before, and now give you a number with your A, B or C that shows where within that group you will board. They are boarding in smaller groups within each letter category vs. having a complete free for all.

Sorry not true at all they have started

Boarding Priority
Purchasing this fare will enable you to board the plane in the first portion of the "A" boarding group.

They are reserving 10% for this and the RR super flyers so now it starts out at A20 for everyone else.

As have been increased to 60 ,then the Preboarders and then all the rest will be Bs. The Gates will show this and they did away with the C as they are no longer needed with the numbering system . The only reason for the Bs are to give the preboarders a chance.

Before you cut off your nose to spite your face. When you cancel that DING fare exactly HOW are you going to get to your destination? :confused3 Do you really think you can match that fare someplace else.

Let's see, we pay the cheapest possible amount for a ticket and then WHINE when we don't get first class service. hmm....

However if you actually READ the info SW has posted you will quickly figure out that you still have an EXCELLENT chance at an A boarding pass. Just not A-1 so you get to board first.

And how have you noticed the SW overbooking? Let me guess. Watching Airline?

I have flown SW extensively. I have NEVER EVER seen an involuntary bumping on SW. (I have seen maybe five in my entire 20 plus career of almost weekly air travel)

I know the drill and usually get an A boarding pass on Southwest, but sometimes I slip up and miss it. I have boarded with a B and even the dreaded C and always found a seat! Sometimes it's in the middle but for a 90 minute flight it's really not that bad.
My carry on luggage fits under the seat, as recommended, so a lack of overhead space has never been a problem.

If the new boarding policy is what Southwest needs to do to keep offering low fares, it sounds good to me!

I have done a scientific survey....

All seats on the plane go to the same destination! Middle seats don't go someplace else nor do seats in the back.

There is also NO proven relationship between a front row seat and the amount of time your luggage takes at baggage claim. You may be the first person off the plane, your luggage could still be the last bag unloaded....

Thank You. I understand that we're all on the same plane, etc. My mother was very concerned about not being able to sit together. I booked the Wanna Go Travel or whatever Fare. Hopefully we'll get to sit together.
