SW Flights are up: Go get em.

OK sowthwest experts. Is it possible to book flights seperately?Meaning book one way flight then come back later and add a return flight to it?Has anyone ever done this before? Is there a extra charge for doing it this way?

never mind...you got an answer :)

Thanks everyone.I am going to book seperately 2 one way trips.I have been watching flights for about a month now,and the rates definetely bounce around!

AirTran doesn't fly direct from LGA to MCO, though, correct?

I'm assuming you know the difference between what an airline considers DIRECT and non-stop.

AirTran has two direct flights on most days - however they are NOT non-stop.

The direct flight have a 35 minute stop in Newport News, Virginia for unloading some passengers and picking others up. Passengers who boarded at LGA do not leave the plane during this stop and maintain their seats.

The total travel time from LGA to MCO is just less than 4 hours on those direct flights.

I was wondering if the flights started at $149 or $99... do you know ? I thought by the time I logged on...about close to 7am Oregon time going down the time I wanted was $178 comin back is $149.

I went to a dentist appt and returned about 2 hrs later and the $149 flight I got was now $178. I had looked and Seattle to Orlando was at $99.00 each way for awhile.

Curious if I missed the $99.00 but Happy. I am a bag packer and love the option to change flights. I wish I had booked each one sep as one wayers in case the price drop one way. Oh well remember that for next year.:rotfl:

I checked SWA as soon as I saw here on the Dis that the new schedule was posted. There was nothing listed for $99 at the time I checked (don't I wish!) The cheapest Getaway Fare was $149 for all flights from and returning to Portland.

I just had to share. Yesterday morning when Aug/Sept flights opened I booked flights RT for 129.00 each way (after much debating with prices and changing days and even possibly driving down because some flights were already 170.00). Now, my flight going down is up to $170.00 bucks. I know that these prices will definitely bounce around but it just drives me nuts!

OK, I'm done.

Thanks:banana: thought I missed it. :surfweb: watching everyday morning and eve til plane leaves to see if they go down....plus it is just exciting

I want to whine, too!

Providence to Orlando in August = $119 one way
Providence to San Diego same dates = $129 one way

What? Come on!!! San Diego is on the other coast! Seriously! But I bought the tickets anyway and good thing because my flight to MCO is up to $195!

Glad I am not the only one who needed to whine! I am still happy with my purchase; I got the times I wanted and they are nonstop!

I'm a charter member of the whine & cheese club too! If the higher fares were all about oil prices then examples such as yours make no sense. It's clear they are trying to exploit popular routes.

So I went and bought my one way home ticket when tickets went on sale at 170 for the one way.. Its labor day weekend, we are boxed in because of the cruise

So going down price was 148. Its a Sat, I have flexability..
Figure I would wait
Just looked today and now that ticket is 170
ZOINKS

Going home flight is over 200 now..for the one way

I feel your pain. We were going to come home that weekend but unlike you, we had flexability so I changed our return date to Friday 9/2 and got flights for 129.00. But now those prices went up too!!!

UGHHHHHHH!!! Just checked the flight I wanted from BDL to Orlando on 9/30...it's been $139 for the past 2 days, but sometime today it went up to $159!!! That is crazy!!!

I guess I have no choice but to hope it goes down. I REALLY wish Jet Blue would extend their schedule past August, my DH really wants to use Jet Blue again, but what if Jet Blue is ridiculously expensive??? I've never done this with plane tix, usually when SW releases their fares, I just book my tix, but this year it's different because they're so expensive AND I have to wait to book my return flight until they open their schedule past 9/30!:scared1:

I guess we are all in this price thing together. So many are wigged out:eek: over how high SWA flights are. Some did get a good deal, but I think majority share your situation.

Does anyone happen to know what price I should be looking at from St. Louis to Orlando to book at?? We fly from Chicago so I know that $79 is what I am looking for ($67 on RARE occasions) but I don't know about St. Louis??:confused3 We are stuck on dates this time but I just need to know what's decent...

We've been doing STL for the past few years. We always vacation in Disney in Sept....I consider anything under $200 RT to be wonderful (seems like it costs that much to go anywhere from STL). We skipped last year, but in 2009, we paid $84 each way (plus fees and all).

Having said all of that....who knows what the fuel prices, etc are doing to this year's prices. I've been checking regularly on prices for Feb/Mar/April (since they usually seem to compare well to Sept prices). Right now, there are flights from STL-MCO for as low as $79 (depending on what days you fly, of course), though $109 is more prevalent.

We booked our flight down this year when they release them at $155 one way, hoping like crazy they go down and we can use the credit to buy the return trip. Today they went down to $135. I don't think I'm crazy for expecting them to get to $109. If they go lower, I will be thrilled. For the return in Oct, I'm going to hold out for $109 (we are returning on a Monday). Wish us both luck :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reply! We'll be flying from Chicago but my brother will be flying out of St. Louis and I am in charge of this trip :goodvibes So now I know what to look for at least. I am hoping our Chicago flights come down as well. I booked the return at $97 but am hoping it comes down and then I'll use that for the flight down..I am so used to paying under $200 roundtrip as well that prices this time seem crazy! If we were flexible there are flights for $67 each way, but we are locked into dates this time :headache:

I've been monitoring SWA prices for flights from Long Island on 8/22 and returning between 9/2-4th in hopes the prices would drop. But instead of seeing any kind of price drop, they've been rising:scared1:. Some flights that started 129.00 are now up to as high as 204.00  especially for the return flights. I know I have plenty of time to see this upward trend come down, but I am really starting to wonder if it will. I did book flights for 129.00 each way but I cut my vacation short by 2 days because of the pricing. I'd love to add those 2 days back into my family's vacation and return on the 4th but right now it doesn't look good.

I have to say I am glad I did not wait to book.

Does anyone know where on the Southwest site you can check for when the November flight schedule comes out? There used to be somewhere to click on for the tentative date of future schedules.

It is under travel tools at the bottom

We are currently accepting air reservations through September 30, 2011. On March 15, we will open our schedule for sale through November 4, 2011. This date is subject to change! Please check back freque
