We are a family of four traveling in an airplane for the first time. Our travel was provided by a wish organization so we didn't get to choose who our flights are through.

We received our flight information today. We are flying Southwest. I realize I need to get online and get a boarding pass but what does that mean - I board on that number?

I know I must sound very stupid but we just have very limited experience flying - never could afford it. I will have dh and two kids (7 and 11) with me. I am worried after reading some of the threads that we will not be able to sit together? both of my kids are very nervous about flying for the first time and would not like it if they were not sitting by myself or my husband - we don't care if we have four seats together - just want one adult with each kid!

Our flight to Orlando is a direct flight. However, Our flight back on Christmas Eve night goes through Chicago Midland and it has less than an hour to the connecting flight.

Any tips or advice from seasoned travelers?

I'm not a very "seasoned" traveler, but my understanding is that the sooner you get online to get your boarding pass, the earlier you'll get to board the plane and therefore have a better choice of seats. If you can check you bags at the curb with the skycaps, you'll be able to go straight to your gate after going through security. PM me, I might be able to get some better hints for you from my brother who works for SWA. Have a great time at The World and Merry Christmas! :santa:
