SW fares??

HI everyone


Just wondering if you think the fares will go a DING sale for the end of Dec?.. Were looking at leaving the 28 or the 29th.. I am every day a few times looking at the flights and would like to book but just not sure if there will be a sale or not.. Did they last year?.. Thanks.. sarah

I cannot remember any fare sales for mid December until after New Years...it is such a heavy travel period I would not expect any big savings....although with Ding now you might catch one....I am always too chicken when flying at peak periods to wait it out... I would suggest booking now if you are doing weekend flights to MCO anytime over or near the holidays....you might want to hold out a little longer if you are flying mid-week....those do not seem to fill as quickly.

I'm doing the same thing. Does anybody know if it says "unavailable", does that mean they've already sold that many tickets? On the first day SW put out the new dates, they were already showing 'unavailable' for many of the times and fare catagories. Will it just get worse or do you thing they have already sold that many tickets?

I don't know if SWA is making the flights unavailable or if the seats are simply booking up. I have been watching a lot of dates around Christmas time to and from BUF and since the dates were released, there is quite a bit more unavailable then when flights were first posted.

Ex. 1. When entering 8 passengers from BUF-MCO Dec 17, I bought seats (for 4 people) at $99 OW each. Now the next "available" seat is $153! Glad I booked these when I did.
2. I purchased DH a ticket MCO-BUF for Dec 31 at $133 OW. Now the least expensive is $153. Glad I bought that ticket when I did.
3. Jan 7 was wide open (MCO-BUF) when dates were first released. Now (when entering 8 seats), it is showing up as the last flight of the day is not available at the 2 least expensive fare categories.

My question:
Would you consider Saturday Jan 7 a holiday season date? Last year I would say NO, since most schools were back in session around Jan 3. BUT this year, a lot of US and Canadian schools do not go back until Monday Jan 9.
