SW Fares will they get better?

I was in WDW last week when the fares were extended into April and May and now everything for our return is unavailable, will this change. We are going down April 18 and returning on April 25th. My flight is avalible on the way down at $79 but on the way back the only thing is $168 refundable and I can't combine the two. What should I do and will it get better? This is my DH and My birthday trip...he is 31 April 18 and I'm 31 on April 24th and my Best Friend who works for Pop Century is 31 on April 19th. We have to spend the week together. Help.

Well I guess I just HAVE to respond to your thread since my birthday is April 18th too! Only I will be 36.

I really don't know WHAT to respond, though... I would call SW and ask them. Of course, you could get the polite "I haven't a clue" answer... lol

I'm not saying much to help you, am I? I would wait a week or two, check in on Tuesdays (that is when the sales change) and see what happens. Also, check into another nearby city like Tampa? Can you change your days at all/times at all?

All I can tell you is that you have to play SW like a game... play around with times, days, etc... if nothing fits, wait a week and try again. But don't wait too long! I can't see why April 25th is so booked, it is well after Easter. However, Sundays are notorious for not being marked cheap! Can you change to Monday morning? Hey, an extra day isn't the worse disaster, is it? Or even better, TUESDAY! Don't you like how I am planning your vacation? lol

Anyhow... good luck... what airport are you flying out of? Can you drive to another airport close by?

Call and ask to be transferred to customer service. They may be able to help you by checking just how full the particular flight you want is.

In Sept I called customer service about President's weekend because it seemed to be only higher fares available. My argument was I didn't mind paying the high fares to return on President's weekend, however, I thought it was unfair I was blocked from taking advantage of the cheaper outbound flights because there were no cheap homebound flights available.

The customer service person booked a cheaper outbound flight with a 3 month hold. Then he told me that the flights on President's weekend were empty and the prices would come down, just to keep on checking. Two weeks ago they came down!!!

So it wouldn't hurt to check with customer service to see if they can help you too!!

Keep watching the internet for your flights and prices. I try to check about every other day. They only reserve so many low fares and then as the seats don't fill up they open more low fare seats up. My flights have already dropped twice since I booked them 3 weeks ago. They will credit you the amount overcharged and let you use it toward a future flight. I already have $122 waiting to be used!!! Just keep your fingers crossed and keep watching. Also, I always spoke with a cust. service rep. Purchasing things on the internet still scares me somewhat.

Also, keep your eye on this board to see if/when SWA will give out their "codes." I really thought there would be some out there by now since it seems like a really long time since any have been posted. Every little bit helps!
