I think it's a complete waste of money and a way for SW to pad their profits.
There have been reports of passengers using EBCI who got 'B' boarding numbers.
We flew a couple weeks ago from Indy...I forgot about checkin, wasn't sitting at my computer at the 24 hour mark. I remembered about 5 hours in. We were in the high B's, sat together in row 15. On the way home we did EB and were A20 and 21. We were in row 6. Probably not needed as we only added the EB 3 days prior to the outbound flight. Interesting though, a guy in row 5 had clearly done EB and held seats for his party of three, refusing for the longest time to let anyone sit with him. The rest of his party got on quite late in boarding but were still in row 5 as he saved the seats for them. So even though they had not paid extra and I am guessing had C boarding, they still got front row seats because 1 person in the party had paid the $10. Just wrong, in my book.
While, sure, it's a way for Southwest to bring in more money, they didn't originate the idea. Other entrepreneurs did - although they were only charging $5 for the service (but was that $5 per passenger or per party, I forget?). Anyway, Southwest was able to estop those businesses and, recognizing a good thing when they see it, incorporate the service themselves.I think it's a complete waste of money and a way for SW to pad their profits.
I've only done the24-hour check-in and I've never gotten anything but "A"s, I make sure that I'm all set to "click" right at the minute it's open!
SWA has been my preferred airline for most trips to WDW, so we're talking about years of travel.
Good luck![]()
I actually just came on to ask if I should do EBCI...we're only flying SW for our return flight and I don't know if I want the pressure of remembering to check in 24 hours in advance. Has anyone checked in from an iphone? Experiences?
