SW early bird necessary?

We flew out of BWI on the 13th, no ECBI, I got A41 & A42, only 4 seats empty for 0ur 7:40 am flight. Ok, now today I used ECBI back when I purchased the tickets and we got A44 & A45 leaving MCO tomorrow at noon. Kinda glad this time I did!

Flew BDL - MCO 10/12 - Checked in right at 24 hour mark - got A34 A35
Flew MCO - BDL 10/18 was ready to check in right at 24 hours mark, but had two different itineraries and spelled DH name wrong wrong so kept pressing refresh and it kept telling me OOPS!
Anyway, when I figured it out, we got A58 and B6
Both flights were almost completely full
Still plenty ot seats together through the boarding of the mid B's
