This will be our first time flying Southwest. The first leg of our flight to Orlando is on Southwest, the 2nd is on AirTran. The return flight is on Southwest. Is Early Bird Check In worth the expense?

Yes but not really...she's 15. I'm most concerned about us getting seats next to each other. I know that will likely happen on the Southwest leg, but it's my understanding SW will go ahead and check us in for our connecting AT flight at the same time, so that's the real reason I'm considering EB.
I almost always use EB. Always on the return leg. Who wants to be on vacation and worry about checking in at the 24 hour mark? And it seems to me that a lot more people are using EB. The EB numbers seem to be getting higher and higher.
