(This is for my parents -- going from MDW to Las Vegas)

I was surprised to get such a high A number considering I checked in at the 24 hour mark. Do you think it's all ECBI related? Can I find out if this is a connecting flight to see if others were able to secure their boarding pass from the first segment of their trip?

I'm just curious...we're going to MCO next year and I wasn't sure about ECBI. But if today is any indication, I think I may bite the bullet and pay for ECBI for our trip!

It's not if that flight is continuing on from somewhere, as any continuing passengers are just on the plane and don't need boarding cards at your airport, but if there are lots of passengers connecting from other flights at your airport. Those are the folks that would have been able to get boarding cards before your 24-hour mark without using EBCI. Unfortunately, it's really hard to tell if there are people connecting from other places. If you're starting at MDW or another major SWA airport, then you can assume that people on connecting flights are more likely than at someplace like Columbus, but that's about it. I think it's still too early to say if that's EBCI or not in your case, but your experience is a new data point that can help assess the impact of EBCI.

SW has reduced the number of N/S flights to destinations like LAS and MCO. Passengers originating from popular connecting cities like BWI and MDW should expect a lot of the lower BPs will be issued to connecting passengers prior to T-24 for your flight.

What time did the flight leave MDW? I don't think this would have been an issue with the 7a flight.

I wouldn't worry about it. Getting a number in the A's is fine. They will be able to sit together...no problem. I don't worry about it unless my number is B45 or higher. Even then, there's usually 2 together unless you are in the C's. Even then, not sitting next to my wife isn't the end of the world after 38 years!

LOL -- we're at the 16 year mark and I completely understand!!

Their flight is at 3:35 pm. Our flight to MCO leaves at 6:45 am, so I'm hoping it won't be a big factor for my family of 4 (we'd like to sit together, but I think as long as we can sit 2 and 2, we're fine).

THANKS :)

The seats in each row are 3 across, so you could sit 3 in a row and one across the aisle or 2 in each row either across from each other or in front or behind each other.

I've checked in right at the 24 hour mark and gotten a B boarding pass number...I'd be THRILLED to get anything in the As!

There's a big difference between exactly the 24-hour mark, and half a minute later. If you aren't sitting there continuously trying to get through the second Southwest's computer-clock ticks over the 24-hour mark, something in the A30s to A40s is common, even for people who are just a bit late.
