Maybe I have been out of the loop. Just booked a ding fare and it states that I can check in 24 hours prior to my scheduled departure! No more waiting up til 12:01, great news especially with having a 6:35 am flight! Bad thing is departure is 2:15pm, wonder if they can print a boarding pass from the parks! :rotfl2:

WOW- 24 hours now!?!!? I was the queen of the 12:01 am boarding pass! :goodvibes

I know that last month they printed out my boarding passes at the lobby concierge at the hotel (BWV).

This is great news. We usually take a very early flight our of PVD so I could usually be guaranteed of no sleep the night before.

Just to make sure I just checked SWA's web site and there it is. click here to view the new policy.

WOW! Thanks for the post. I never would have seen that fine print. That sure makes getting your boarding passes easier. Since it is usually just my DD and I that go to Disney and I'm not about to drag her to the desk at midnight and it is a bit of a pain to ask my husband to do the online check in from home for us and for us to print the passes later, this will be great!

Thank you so much for this post. :flower: I was planning on staying up all night since our flight is at 7 am.You really made my day. :flower:

This is GREAT news... It will make life so much nicer, and not to mention The fact that I LOVE Southwest even more now... This is my new favorite airline.
:cool1:

This is, indeed, good news. We fly SWA a lot within California (this weekend for a Napa trip, for instance) and hoping to wake up around midnight to check in is an iffy thing. Particularly when other airlines allow 24-hour advance check in, it's nice to know that SWA has made the changes necessary to their system to allow this.
[It's a good thing we all like SWA; after bankruptcies, all the airlines are going to start looking like it!]

YEAH!! I thought I was the only one who hated to lose sleep by staying up past Midnight when I have an early morning flight. I thought I was the only who didn't want to ask her husband to print the boarding pass because I don't trust him to do it to my satisfaction. :teeth: I thought I was the only one who was neurotic and Type A but I find that many of my fellow dis'ers are just like me.

Whew, I am normal, I am normal, I am normal. :cheer2:

Also, my TA just told me yesterday, that SW is becoming a "preferred" airline under Magical Express. Which means you do not have to gather and check your own luggage on the return flight. You know what, I bet that had something to do with the new 24 hour policy, don't ya think?

Wow! Thanks for the heads up! I would have never seen that until I went to check in at 12:01.

Diamond Girls - My guess is that this new policy would apply to everyone, no matter when you booked your flight. :flower:

Thanks for posting this. We have a 6:35 am flight out of PHL, and we are staying at an airport hotel the night before, so we wouldn't have been able to get our passes at 12:01 (we don't have a laptop). Now I can print at my passes that morning at work.

Now, hopefully we can sweet talk SSR into printing our boarding passes for our Airtran flight coming home. There are only two of us, so if they can't we shouldn't have a problem, but it would be nice if they were able to.

In today's (Spetember 22nd) Rapid Rewards E-Mail Update:

New Enhancements to Online Checkin at southwest.com
Great news! Now you can check in online and print your boarding pass beginning 24 hours prior to your scheduled flight. That means no more waking up at midnight to get your boarding pass! With news like that, there's no need to lose any sleep.

Visit southwest.com to use this exciting new feature!

Sound like it applies to anyone currently flying - well, not 'currently' as in you're in the air at the moment -- you know what I mean. Taking flights from this point forward regardless of when you purchased your tix.

I just called Disney, and SW is still not a "preferred" airline, as of yet anyway.

We fly out tomorrow at 8:25 a.m. and I just printed my boarding passes! We bought Ding fares in August, so the new policy does apply to tickets purchased before the policy change.

Does anyone have any ideas as to when / if SWA will become a preferred airline ?
Thank you
Suzy V

We've never flown SW before. We're going to be visiting relatives the day before leaving and they don't have internet access. How will we get our tickets?

Also - since its first come first serve on seating, what are the chances my 8 year old and my hubby will be able to get seating with me?

Sorry if these are stupid questions. I've never flown SW at all and this is only my 2nd flight ever.

Thanks so much.
