SW carry on Question

Hello, we're leaving Friday via SouthWest and I was curious about carry on's. I have a small backpack to carry on but also didn't want my camcorder case to be in my lg suitcase or checked. Its about 8X5 inches, too lg for back pack but small enough to carry. Do you think I'd be able to carry that case as well as the backpack? OR should I just keep the camcorder and camera in my backpack and leave the case with the batteries, etc in my lg suitcase? Sorry this is a silly question, but I don't want my new camcorder getting shook up.....

You're allowed one carry on (check Southwest's website for max dimensions, but it's gotta fit in the overhead compartment) and one 'personal item' such as a purse, computer, etc that can fit under the seat in front of you. So, yes, it sounds like you should not have a problem - the camcorder case WILL fit there.
