Would those count as entertainment cards? That discount would be great for those that fly southwest!

I would love to know this also, if there will be a discount applied to them!! Will watch for someone to answer. Still trying to book for our July trip.

Just be careful ... When you use the gift cards at Southwest there is a limit on the number of gift cards you can use. Sorry I don't remember what the limit was.

I would assume they are the same as the Disney ones, classified as the entertainment cards.

Yes, you're right. It's a total of four forms of payment, including any ticketless travel funds you have. So buy the largest denomination SW card possible (I've seen $200 at Kroger; would love to see that at Target!) so you're not trying to put together too many forms of payment. I've bought tickets separately too just in order to piece together SW card balances but that's a bit of a bummer with having a different confirmation number when it comes time to check-in for the flight online.

There is sort of a way around this if you're willing to do it. You can use up to your gift card limit to purchase a ticket, then cancel that ticket and the entire amount is then a ticketless travel fund held under that confirmation #. That would roll multiple gift cards into one confirmation number and then they are now just one form of payment. You could do this as many times as needed. Only hitch with this is that the next reservation that you book would assume the expiration date of the ticketless travel funds used so just make sure to do it all within the same time frame and you are good. And you also would need to do it for each person traveling as the ticketless travel fund would then also be tied to that traveler's name for good.

So, it can be done, but it is somewhat of a pain - though I have done it when I am sure on the travel that I am booking.

If you are a SW rewards member, you could also use the gift card to purchase extra points for your account, and then book travel that way. You'd have to figure out if if makes sense with the savings, etc. to do it that way though.

The Targets in my area do not classify these as entertainment cards, they are considered gift cards therefore excluding them from the extra percentage off...I too saw them this week. I even asked a mgr and scanned the card myself just to be sure although the jpeg tag that it hung on clearly said SW GIFT card...I figured it didn't hurt to double-check :)

For our up coming trip I used SW gift cards to buy our tickets. Our Winn Dixie store had gift cards for double fule perks so I bought $500 worth. I was told when I called SW that you could apply 4 cards per transaction. I bought our flights as one way ( 5 to Mco and then 5 from MCO) . So I had 2 transactions and got to use all the cards.
