SW boarding number question

Hello,

It's been a few years since I've flown SW. I am flying from Ontario to Orlando with a change in Albuquerque. Our flight leaves Ontario at 10:30 am. Our connecting flight leaves Albuquerque at 3:20 pm. My question is when we check in 24 hours ahead of our 10:30 am flight will we also get our boarding number for the Albuquerque flight that leaves at 3:20 pm? I remember when I flew SW prior to the checking in online days that I would have to get a new plastic boarding card for connecting flights. So how does it work now with online check in? I am assuming that we will get our connecting flight boarding number when we check in and since it will actually be more than 24 hrs before that flight that we will get a decent boarding number. But of course I could be wrong. Thanks!

You will get both your boarding passes when you check in at 24hrs, so yes, you'll get decent numbers for the connecting flight.

Well, you probably will going through Albuquerque, but the worst boarding numbers I have had in recent memory (other than one time I screwed up and forgot to check in) were for a connecting flight in Baltimore. We checked in at 24 hours for our STL-BWI-MCO itinerary and got 'A' group passes for the first leg, but mid 'B' passes for the BWI-MCO leg. That's actually still fairly decent in the overall scheme of things, but if your definition of 'decent' is limited to something in the 'A' group then you might be disappointed.

Again, my guess is that for the OP's itinerary this will not be an issue.

we just flew sw and though not connecting I purchased our EB two weeks BEFORE the flight, got A17-19 and return was A24-26....so I guess it all depends on number of first class seats or connectors...who get those earlier numbers. It all worked fine...
I did notice that SW was much more in-tune with Not allowing more than 1 person to help the pre-boarders, the rest of family had to wait in line And they also would ask people to "move along, no holding seats please" to those that boarded ahead of other friends and family. There was a family of 3 that had no seat together (they were like last to board) and they asked for help, a kind gentleman gave up his seat so at least the dad and child could sit together with mom separate. There are always nice people around!

Calling all SW experts I just checked in online and got my boarding passes for a trip tomorrow. There are 7 in our group but two different ressies, one for 5 and one for 2. There are two legs and the first one we have passes A35-39 and A47 and A48. I'm thinking that is okay due to the "A"? The second leg the group of 5 got A55-60 but my daughter and I got B3 and B4.

I tried to find out the plane configuration but had no luck so I have no idea how many seats there are or what are chances in the B group we have to sit together. The info online looks like your actual # doesn't matter, only A/B/C? Is that the case? Or do they actually line you up by letter and number? Thanks.

All SWA flights are on Boeing 737s with a three-and-three seating configuration. Usually there is not a problem with finding at least two seats together well into the Bs, and you obviously have two of the lowest B numbers on your connection. FWIW, there are only 60 spots in the A and B groups, so your A passes on the connection are the last in that group.

They have posts in the boarding area with the numbers. It goes in groups of 5. You just line up by your number and then when it's time to board, you walk up in order. It's very quick.
