Just checked out Southwest's site (I booked from BWI and am hoping to switch to PHL for $59-$79 each way) and noticed that my fares had dropped from $69 to $59 on one leg of my trip---so now I have a $20(ish) credit to use.
I haven't even flown Southwest yet, but they are already my favorite airline Any airline who allows any changes/cancellations/etc. that you want and will give you credit back if the fare drops is my kind of airline
Who doesn't like getting "money" back?? I know I do!!!
This is a BIG advantage with Southwest!
We will book our outbound flights for DL Thanksgiving Saturday when the schedule opens. We have always found this outbound flight (which is a blackout date so we cannot use our reward tickets---but we use reward tickets for the flight home)....anyway....this outbound flight has always dropped in price. Last year, 3 times!
With no booking penalties, we just use the $$$ for later flights. I generally use the credit for a work flight (because I fly so often) and am reimbursed from my company reasonably quickly.
Don't forget no fees......$0.00 to check two 50 lb. bags, No charge for sodas onboard, they have pillows and blankets onboard (although I use my stuffed Sully and a fleece throw for myself)....basically no nickle and diming people.
We like the boarding system....let me give you a tip. If the flight isn't full.....nobody will fight to sit in the center seat in the back of the plane. My seat 20F. Only time someone sits next to me, or between DH and myself is when the flight is sold out. TIP: the back of the plane arrives at the same time and having the center seat open is golden!
Last two flights to LAX from BWI we carried a small insulated cooler, sandwiches, my mothers killer potato salad, green salad, sliced melon....a few Disney napkins on our tray tables, the drinks we bought INSIDE security.....we were dining like KINGS. Naps to follow!
Southwest has been my airline since 911 when I left BWI at 8 am and landed in a different travel world one hour later in Providence. They were very supportive then and have not stopped since.
