FYI...SW now has $59 fares for 8/19 and 8/24 (probably other days in August too, but these are my dates).

I purchased $77 one-way SW flights from BWI to MCO 8/19 last week thinking they may not go down any further. However, I'm still checking all day everyday day, and this morning all the 8/19 flights are $59! I changed my flight and now have a $30 credit. 8/24 has some $59 flights, but not for the times I would like to leave so I'm still waiting. Airtran's fares are back down to $49, so I may have to go with them for our return flight to BWI.

We are still getting $69 for Dulles to MCO. Keep in mind if you book that AT $49 fare, you have to pay $15 for your luggage, so SW may still be the better deal. I booked my Dulles fare at $69 so keep waiting to see if it gets lower. But I'm happy with the $69 fare if it doesn't. (We are flying back on Jetblue to Dulles for $74, so worth it for the RAC.)

But you don't have to pay a luggage fee at AT if you don't check any luggage in, right?

Just checked out Southwest's site (I booked from BWI and am hoping to switch to PHL for $59-$79 each way) and noticed that my fares had dropped from $69 to $59 on one leg of my trip---so now I have a $20(ish) credit to use.

I haven't even flown Southwest yet, but they are already my favorite airline Any airline who allows any changes/cancellations/etc. that you want and will give you credit back if the fare drops is my kind of airline :rotfl:

Who doesn't like getting "money" back?? I know I do!!!

This is a BIG advantage with Southwest!

We will book our outbound flights for DL Thanksgiving Saturday when the schedule opens. We have always found this outbound flight (which is a blackout date so we cannot use our reward tickets---but we use reward tickets for the flight home)....anyway....this outbound flight has always dropped in price. Last year, 3 times!

With no booking penalties, we just use the $$$ for later flights. I generally use the credit for a work flight (because I fly so often) and am reimbursed from my company reasonably quickly.

Don't forget no fees......$0.00 to check two 50 lb. bags, No charge for sodas onboard, they have pillows and blankets onboard (although I use my stuffed Sully and a fleece throw for myself)....basically no nickle and diming people.

We like the boarding system....let me give you a tip. If the flight isn't full.....nobody will fight to sit in the center seat in the back of the plane. My seat 20F. Only time someone sits next to me, or between DH and myself is when the flight is sold out. TIP: the back of the plane arrives at the same time and having the center seat open is golden!

Last two flights to LAX from BWI we carried a small insulated cooler, sandwiches, my mothers killer potato salad, green salad, sliced melon....a few Disney napkins on our tray tables, the drinks we bought INSIDE security.....we were dining like KINGS. Naps to follow!

Southwest has been my airline since 911 when I left BWI at 8 am and landed in a different travel world one hour later in Providence. They were very supportive then and have not stopped since.

I already booked with southwest at $69. I got my credit for one leg of the trip that went down to $59. I am wishing I waited....AIr tran is down to $49 each way and even with the baggage fee it is a better deal for me because there are 6 of us, but I will probably only check 2-3 bags.

8/29 too but I paid $49 for that on SWA some time ago so no need to rebook.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking. I usually don't check any of my bags and even if my travel companion has a piece of luggage to check in, it will still be cheaper than the $129 SW fare right now. I'm just trying to decide whether I should wait and see what SW does and if I can get a Ding fare soon or just book with AT. Decisions...Decisions :surfweb:

I'm gambling too. Been watching the fares everyday. I want to fly IAD to MCO but will settle for BWI to MCO. It is VERY tempting to take the $59 but I feel like I want $49 and I bet I can get it.

I should just probably book with Airtran. I've got a party of 6 and will probably have 2-3 checked bags. Not sure if it's worth the risk of having my flight changed.

Someone, please, tell me what to do!! I don't HAVE to go on this trip so I can gamble (but I sorta want to go).:rotfl:

Yes, I haven't flown AT before and this is the first time my travel companion has ever flown, so I want to make sure she has a good experience so she will want to do it again...lol. I'm afraid that if AT changes our flight it will leave her with a negative flying experience, which is making me hestitant about booking our return flight with AT. SW please lower the fares for 8/24...LOL!:surfweb:

You may have to wait a month. I've been watching like a hawk for July 26 and they just came down yesterday. And even then, the low fares were gobbled up quickly. If there is any pattern (which there probably isn't;)) it coulf be another month for you.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this morning. 8/19 is now $49 from BWI to MCO. I also noticed that other dates have some $49 flights too. :cool1:

I saw that, but on July dates there are only 1 or 2 seats left at those prices.

Does anyone know if I bought 6 seats on one confirmation number, can I get a credit from southwest if they have 2 seats left at $49, for just 2 of my seats? Or would I have to exchange all 6?

Saw this as well (for my flights in October). The trip down there was booked at $69 (I believe)---dropped to $59 yesterday and $49 today. Right now, I'm at a $40 credit for DH and I, niceeeeeee.

Our return trip has gone up from $69 to $129---but looking at other months, etc. I am fairly confident that it will eventually drop also. :goodvibes

Just snagged six (6) $49 seats from BWI to MCO for my newly planned July trip (23-30 July). My DD's 18th birthday is on the 29th so I've got to figure out now what that deal is on your birthday at Disney. Woohoo!:cool1:

IIRC---the person with the birthday gets free admission to the park on their b-day. If you already have multi-day park passes I guess they will ask for some sort of proof and your DD should be able to get a $75 Birthday Fun Card (can be used at gift shops, etc. but not for food or to pay room balances), or birthday fast passes for (I believe) your group that are good for the whole day.

Don't forget to register her birthday on Disney's website and bring proof of the birth date (driver's license, birth certificate and photo ID, etc.) and HAVE FUN!! :cool1:

I booked $59 from BWI to FL last night on SW. It's now up to $109 for the same flight.

I bet it goes down again on Wednesday. I'm still on the "Dulles" watch for the $49 fare. BWI is just a bit inconvenient for me since I live in Virginia.

I'm still waiting and hoping 8/24 goes down from the current $129.00 My only concern is that I see the week prior and the week after are offering more $49 flights. What's up with that?! AT's $49 flights on 8/24 are shrinking. I want to hold out for SW, but I'm going to be upset if the fares don't drop. At this point, when I consider that I got $49 going down on 8/19, I'd be happy with $89 or $99 for 8/24. :headache:
