It looks like 5 states have a Susan B Anthony holiday - FL, WI, CA, NY, and WV. There is a movement to make it a national holiday. I know my DD doesn't have class on Cesar Chavez day in CA, and Patriots' Day is big in MA, so who knows, maybe someday Susan B will get more recognition.

I'm old enough to remember when we got off from school for both Lincoln's birthday and Washington's birthday, before they combined the two into a Monday in February that isn't either of their birthdays.

West Virginia only recognizes the holiday on Election Day in even years.

So SBA has to have "good looks," in addition to her significant, lifelong contributions to Women's Rights, to be considered an important American figure? Men don't have such requirement. Lincoln was homely.

New York does not celebrate the Susan B. Anthony Holiday in any way that I have ever seen or heard of in all my 50+ years of living here. Don't know where that misinformation came from. Maybe it's notated on calendars somewhere but no officially celebrated holiday. Definitely not on State, Downstate Counties or Court calendars in NY. I worked for County Gov't 30+ years.

I remember in school in the early '90s we would get both Lincolns birthday and Washingtons birthday off instead of Presidents day. Later on it would be Presidents day instead

Not their birthdays, but because it's a Monday, it's a boon to the ski industry. (Which was, as it just so happens, one of the big proponents of the holiday.)
