Survivor - Vanuatu

Okay, I can do the "black box" thing. I was a little afriad! If I can do it, anyone can! :p It's great! Thanks!

It was Scout - the older lady who struggled that I referred to in my upper post. Was my DH hearing things? I already like Chad. He's a winner in my book. Not one complaint.

What I do is, everytime I do it, I preview the post first to make sure it worked and then submit.

You have to register you own team first. Than you can join the other Private team.

So don't fill in the box that appears first. Go to NOT Registered yet? and click that button and fill in the information.

I did that. I registered as phamton with my own password, address, phone number. etc. Then it took me to the page to join a private team. I filled in the team name: Dis Team and password: wdw That's when I got that message.

I felt the show was very rushed last night. They spent a lot of time on the whole ritual thing, and very little time on the survivors. I kept waiting for the women to be involved in the ritual somehow, but it never came.

The casting has become quite predictable though. The "young, cute" girls that are lazy, the one militant woman that is bossy (ala Deena), the old vs. the young, etc. I really hope they mix it up this season to keep it from being boring and predictable.

I wish we would have learned a little more about Brook before he was voted off though. 2 hours would have been much better.

I'm glad the season started. We will watch from tape every week because of other commitments but we start watching it as soon as it is over.

We also did not let our kids watch the pig part. The article from the Baltimore Sun made it sound much worse than I thought it actually was.

phamtom -- I just joined the DIS Team. DIS is all capitalized not lowercase. I tried to join Island Mickey first but it said it did not exist. I'm assuming this is because of the capitalization issue. I remember from last year that if it is not exact it won't let you in.

Aha...that was the problem. The post didn't say that Dis was all capitilized.

Thanks.

I thought the show was okay; I have seen every Survivor premiere & this one didn't quite pull me in the same as the others. I have to say I am not a big fan of dividing the team by gender; I don't like it when the men say, "We gotta beat the women..I can't believe those women beat us." Like it's still 1900 or something. I'm glad the one guy pointed out that he was kind of pleased the women won so the other guys can see they're tough and strong and good competition.

I really don't have a feeling yet for who I like and who I don't like. I for one would have been glad that as a woman, I didn't have to drink that mud stuff. :p

We went to Fiji in May for our anniversary, and drank kava by the quart. We didn't think it was bad at all. In fact, the Fijians referred to DW as the Kava Queen because she drank so much of it. So it was really a big deal for us when the stuff made its appearance last night.

I didn't think it was a great episode either. But first episodes are tough, what with 18 people that you don't know anything about.

I can never understand why they vote off someone that early because he's strong. You're a team for quite a while. Being strong is good. Get rid of the weak links and keep the strong people around!

It makes no sense to me. And I'm not just saying that because I picked Brook in the Survivor pool at work. :)

Someone asked a few posts back if Survivor will be repeated. I missed the show too.

Plus, the OC will be up against Survivor, time to understand how my VCR and the digital cable work. We have had problems, ever since we got digital.

I thought last years opening show with the whole pirate thing was much more entertaining than last nights...but it will get better...I'm sure:p

Who could forget Rupert "pirating" the shoes....LOL

I am now a member of the DIS Team Tribe!

Just hope I don't bring you all down!!!

Stacey - you're gonna have to remind me when to update my tribe! hehehe

The thing I found most interesting about this first episode was how many of the contestants I *didn't* like right off the bat--usually in the first episode there are only 1 or 2 contestants I dislike. As of right now, I wouldn't mind seeing well over half of the contestants go home. I don't have any favorites at this point.

Speaking of Rupert- I am so sick of him! I've never been a Rupert fan to begin with and his 15 minutes of fame have expired long ago. He's in all the commercials, "rating the survivors", cbs is having an auction and of course dinner with Rupert is one of the things. I know there are a lot of Rupert fans here but he always annoyed me and I've heard enough of his growl and seen enough of his tye-dye tank top to last me for the rest of my life. There's sure a guy who's a little too full of himself.

As for the first episode, I do have to agree that it wasn't the best and I too don't like men vs. women. Although I was happy when the women won;)

One more thing is after Chad revealed his missing leg one of the guys (don't remember which) said something like "oh great. He's nice, missing a leg and an underdog. He's totally gonna win." Have a little sympathy.:sad2:

I was so excited...

My DH can't stand Survivor. :scared1: Since I don't really want to torture him, I used to tape it, and we'd watch Friends. This year, my DH got a new job working M-F evenings, so I thought, Woohoo! I can watch Survivor while it's on for once, and I'll tape Joey and Will & Grace. Well, wouldn't you know it.. they just switched his schedule. What are his new days off? That's right--Sat. and Thurs. Back to taping Survivor. :p

Glad I found the Survivor thread(s)!

My 2 cents about the first show:

My DH & I would both have liked to have
seen more footage from the first 3 days
without fire, water, food...
That's a ways to go when you don't know
your teammates, and I agree with the
show being too short for what was shown.

I find the men/women teams BORING!
I wish they would have done something different,
although it was a hoot to see the men doing
the SAME THING as the other Survivor (which one?)
on the balance beam.
Time to "belly" up to the bar, boys!

I agree about the loose tops - more than tacky IMHO.

I found the women very WHINY, especially several
of them complaining how they felt so left out
of the opening ritual...
Please - it was so obvious it was a male dominated
tribe, they separated the women first, and Jeff made
several comments about this ritual being how the tribe
set the tone for letting strangers on their island...
I can understand their wanting "in" on any excitement
right off, but hey - it's Survivor, and they always take
the "locals" into consideration - so anything can happen!

I'm looking foward to reading this thread for the next
few months!

We liked the first show. As a woman who doesn't like to be
left out-I would have been greatful to simply watch that ceremony.
As soon as I heard that military guy(Sarge?) say they should
vote out the young guys, I knew what would happen. The younger men never saw it coming and now their numbers are
down. It will be interesting to see what another 3 days brings
to the men's tribe.
As far as the women are concerned. The older worker gals had
better watch out! The young sorority girls will bond while they
are not working and after the hard work is done-the old gals
will get voted out. If there is one thing to have been learned
from previous Survivors-do not do all the work and then complain or brag about it. Be totally gracious and follow the lead of the
laziest tribe member regarding what is important. For a while
anyway. Seem to fit in and fly under the radar. Above all, do NOT
take any beef jerky.:teeth:
