Remember a few Survivors back, when one of the contestants killed a pig (boar?) and smeared blood on his face? The other contestants, and the public, were pretty disturbed by it. People were even upset about them eating rats. I'd be surprised if the show would risk something as blatant as a sacrifice and smearing blood. Well, maybe not...

DH and I actually thought they were going to have to drink it.

As they have drank some sort of blood in the past.

Regardless, I don't think the sacrifice will be shown...just implied. Either way, I have no problem with it personally.

If it IS shown, I'm sure it'll be prefaced by a "adult situation warning" or something to that sort. Remember when Michael fell into the fire in Austrailia? they didn't show it - but they did show aftermath.

I am really shocked that they are not doing a 2-hour special. Would have been a great way to get to know everyone.

I'm excited about the start of the new season!!! Luckily I have The Apprentice to watch while Survivor is taping....then I can skip the first 10 minutes....just the preview makes me jumpy.

Did you make your team first?

You have to make a team (like mine is ekmdisney), then you can join the tribe (Island Mickey).

Did anyone else see the Live Internet Interview with Jeff Probst and Richard Hatch at CBS.com at 2PM. It was a one hour online live feed.

They will be having one every Thursday and Friday at 11AM and 2PM.

Yes there does appear to be two threads. I keep waiting for one to start and didn't notice the other one before I started this one. Sorry about that. At least there are only two of them. Tigger getting arrested again has about 7 Thread right now.

OK, just some general observations about human behavior on the show. If you haven't seen it and don't want to know, I'm putting it way down























































The producers seem to love to design challenges that can tip the balance in favor of one sex. The balancing challenges are always won by women: from tonight's balance beam to all those stand on a pole things from the past. When they've set up men against women, of course they are going to show the men talking about how they expect to beat the women (9 big strong males, jeff!) and have the women beat them soundly. As soon as I heard the first sterotypical male comment I knew the women had it won.

One of the girls reminded me so much physically of Jerri: the hair, eyes, and teeth are very similar. We'll see if she has the personality later, I guess. I think the pre-law student has a better shot at being the new Jerri personality-wise.


And then there's the new Tom. As a Southerner I despair of ever having an articulate representation of my geographical region on this show.

There IS one in every bunch: why can't people keep their mouths shut the first night? In both camps someone is stupid enough to try to tell the rest of the group what the "better" plan would be. Rory is going to be pushing it next week, it looks like from the credits.

Chris dodged the bullet tonight. He looked like he completely gave up on the beam and still managed to get the older guys to vote someone else. He's a player it seems.

All too early to tell . . . Tuning in next week!

I was on the other thread too....oh well.

I didn't mind the pig, or initation so much. I'm familiar with Vanuatu and that's the culture.
However, had DD9 watching as she loves Survivor, but flicked when that part was on. She didn't see the cow blood from Africa either. I just keep the remote by me during the show.

My problem was all the inappropriate (IMO) CSI commercials, and those horror movies. The commercials were far worse than the show!!! What is CBS thinking - it's 8pm! I had to flick the commercials all the time........thank goodness for remotes! (OK rant is over)

I liked how the outcome went. It wasn't predictable. I think some of the players are finally getting it after, what 8 or 9 Survivors! I'm not sure I like any of the women, and really no one stands out like Richard, Sandra, Rupert did.

Anyway, until next week.

I really enjoyed tonight's show but was really thrown by Brook getting voted off. I must have missed why he was targeted. I thought Chris was a sure thing.

I love the location and can't wait to really get into this one! But the pig thing did bother me when I saw it was alive. I have such a soft heart and had to look away. Made sure DD didn't look either.

Some of the "older" guys got together and talked about getting rid of the "young" guys early on due to their strength and ability to win. Not sure why they specifically picked Brook
