~ SURVIVOR Samoa ~ Season 19 ~

I know this has been asked (and I think answered). When did Season 20 wrap up filming?

I think that's the main point. True, he could have handled it better, but I truly believe that there were only two other players who lived and breathed the game like Russell did. One was the other Rob from Boston Rob's season and I can't recall who, but there was a player (maybe it was fans vs. favorites) who watched Survivor from the beginning when he was a kid. I think Russell really put his heart into playing the game and couldn't deal with the shock of losing. It wasn't about the money for him. It was about the game.

Problem is, they didn't see half of what we saw. Most of his cockiness came out in the interviews, not during the tribal councils. Russell kept up a pretty good front in front of the other players.

Ironic that it was only Shambo and John that voted for Russell, the two players that seemed to really understand the game.

Must . . . do . . . better next season :goodvibes

Slightly off topic question. I was thinking of something I don't think was ever mentioned in these threads during the 19 seasons I've been watching. At the tribal councils, the jury is dressed to the nines. For those of you who have watched the Ponderosas (and I really have to get into the habit of doing that) where do the clothes come from? Do they bring it with them when they first depart for the beginning of the show or do they purchase clothes some time after they are voted off? I mean, they've all lost weight during the game, so their normal clothes would be big on them until they regain the weight. I guess this s more of an overall logistics question of what happens from the time the contestants leave home to when the game is over.

Those are their own clothes they bring with them and they leave them with production. Monica was talking about how she wanted to get into her PJ's and when she put them on she said that she had lost a lot of weight and didn't fit like before.

I don't think I've ever been so upset about a final decision. Tina beating Colby really upset me at the time but that pales in comparison to this robbery.

Hey, it's okay. I have been floored and ANGRY many times over the final decision on many of my favorite reality shows (cough...Idol...cough). I know exactly how bad it feels to be pulling for someone and to feel, think, know they were robbed.

So even though I do not share your enthusiasm for Russell, I know your disappointment very very well. Hugs . At least Russ gets another shot on Season 20, right? :flower3:

Didn't particulary like Russell but he was the best player, he out witted he outplayed and he outlasted the donminate team.

It's not like they're playing UN negotiator, or To be a saint, it's Suviovor.

Personally I think the Galu tribe were a bunch of little (well I can't type what I think they were because it's the Dis) and mad because they got beat, even when they had more people and won challenges they got beat. They did not choose Natalie because she was the best player, they choose her because they knew it would tick Russell off. I think that it shows thier charecter more than any of Russells tricks did his.

I think they were poor players. Suvivor isn't about real life, it's not about telling the truth, or honor, it's a game, a stratagy game. Anyone who's ever played risk or statego knows you do your best to decieve and make deals that you then double cross, it's part of the stupid game. And like him or not, I think Russell was a player who played the game the best.

I'm glad that the fans voted him #1, and that Natalie did not even get in the Top 3. She did not deserve to win.

Does anyone know what the time frame is from the final tribal council until the live show?

I'm glad Natalie won!

Now see that didn't bother me because the whole jury hated Keith, so the minute that Colby took Tina to the finals with him, we all knew that he just gave away a million dollars! Colby played the game with his heart instead of his head. Sure, he threw away a million dollars, but I still like him!! :)

He may have lost the game but he'll win at life. His business is going to really take off now with all the publicity he's gotten. He'll probably make more next year than Nat and Mick will make combined during their entire lives! :rotfl2:

Perhaps yes, but in Russ's world all he wanted is for Jeff and people to say YOU ARE THE WINNER, you are the BEST, and that didn't happened, his ego was destroyed and he was blindside but a 'dumb stupid girl'.

I went and read the articles and listened to his phone interview with Russell. All very interesting.

Russell went in to the final TC thinking that he would get the votes because he was the best player.

He said that all of the jury, except for Laura and Dave, told him that they made a mistake and realize now that they should have voted for him.

He also feels that he still would have lost against Shambo.

Of course he was thinking that they would vote for him because they were shock to see how amazing player he was, in his delusional mind of course.

I watched the Ponderosa videos and they never mentioned that about Russ.

Thanks. If I ever make Survivor, I better win the million, cause I'll have to spend a bunch on clothes :lmao:

I agree. St.jude! But, all he wants is the title. Watching the red carpet interview he just said it, he wanted to title, he likes titles. He has the money to donate if he wants to, however I think is a great and classy contribution.

He said, "how smart is that"? "The stupid little blond don't want to give me a title for 100K". Again, his ego, his arrogance, I got the money and im better than you, give me what I want. He said "they were so stupid all of them in the game, I embarrassed them"

Poor, poor Russ, he doesn't get it.

Why the intense hatred towards Russ? Did he personally harm you in some way? Sure sounds like it.

I don't hate him. I mentioned so many times that he was a great player, but that his ego and his mouth were his aquilies (sp?) hill.

Of course he didn't harm me. We are talking about WHY he didn't win, and he didn't win because of he or she, we didn't win because of him. He need to play like he did, but kept his mouth shut, he can't do that. That's it. No hate. :thumbsup2

Understand, we only see about 20 minutes in a 24 hour day. Natalie was probably talking to the Galus to try to figure out where they were coming from and what their mindset was. Russel should have spent more time GENUINELY talking to Galu members to figure out how they would vote in the jury much earlier in the game as Natalie obviously had already done. Russel was played by Natalie. He was outwitted by her because he thought she was no threat to him. That's the only reason he "brought her" to the finals with him. Well Russel, look who got blindsided just like you blindsided everyone else!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this season of survivor and can't wait for 20.

Even though I love Russell, I have to agree with this part of your post. ::yes::

I was surprised they didn't interiew John at all. He seemed to have a great handle on the whole game. He understood his team and that they weren't "players". Then, the fact that he was the other vote for Russell proves that he recognized that he was "outwit and outplayed" and gave credit where credit was due. I would have liked to hear what he had to say last night!

I liked John and I would've liked to hear more of what he had to say about everything.

If you ask me, Eric was plastered.

Worst. Jury. Ever.

You know, that makes sense. In the Ponderosa videos it shows them drinking before going to tribal council. I bet he was at least somewhat buzzed. LOL

Russell was very entertaining, great at manipulating people, and had a good strategy, but I still hated him and am glad he lost. :woohoo:

These are the reasons why I LOVED Russell.

I totally agree!

he was the show this season. The sole reason people turned on their televisions to watch. I don't think there were any other characters who made you hate them so much you actually like them and root for them in the end.

I loved what his wife had to say about him. I really think he is different outside of the game, and it would be interesting to see previous footage of him. I was also pleased that America gave him the 100,000 bucks, because that shows that he was the best player in our eyes.
I wonder too if he already had filmed season 20 and maybe he was more upset because he already knew he lost that one too...

:thumbsup2 I wonder the same thing about Season 20, but I hope we're both wrong! I mean, I don't expect him to win the whole thing, but I hope he doesn't get voted off too soon.

Exactly! This is a GAME. Russell did not win in the end due to jury votes, but he has played the GAME itself the best of any player. I feel like once they get to the final tribal council, the game has been played...an in, past tense...and now only the voting is left. THIS is how I can say that I feel that Russell was the best PLAYER in Survivor history, even though he did not take the million $$.

And he doesnt even see that it was the arrogance that took him down.

Exactly! You must learn from your mistakes, but he can't. The typical narcissist, he can't help it.
At every TC he showed his arrogance and they jury at there for a reason.

About eric being drunk before the last TC, I think Jason was too because they were playing ping pong and Jaison had to drink a whole glass of wine.

The best player is the player who wins, just saying.
