They were honest. The remarks might not have won him any fans, but we knew he was extremely competitive, and it would have been dishonest for him to say, "I had a good time, I was glad I was here, good luck to all," which is what we usually hear. For him to say that despite the money he made in baseball, he really wanted to win this game and show his extreme disappointment and anger at having to leave -- that was honest. And probably healthier than the "oh well, glad I got this far at least" remarks we usually hear.
