Survivor: Palau...official Thread

Jolanda, liked her until she began to boss everyone around. Didn't she watch previous shows?

I don't know how the producers do it...but they manage to find these people that have either NEVER seen survivor and don't have a clue...or those that have seen every episode and calcuate every move.

I boggles my mind that some people (jo) would act like that in the first 3 days and not think the karma bus was behind them.

Anyone see them on the Morning Show?

Yes, and I have to say that Wanda was just as irritating then too - lol! No one on this thread has mentioned Ashley and she was very quiet last night too so I'm hoping she can slide in under the radar for a few shows. She's from my town, but I don't know her. It'll be interesting to see.

Thanks EKMDISNEY! I was wondering why they would vote out a strong person like Jo in favor of Angie, but with her basically throwing the challange by being greedy, I can understand!

I thought this was one of the best first episodes ever and I'm hopeful for a good season!

SSB agrees with you.... I thought a very good start! Felt like I was already involved with several characters, which is hard to be after just one episode... both on the "like" and "dislike" front.

I can't say that I was sorry to see Jo go. There were way too many lawyers on Palau anyway. I hope that Caryn from Solon (Ohio) does well although I fear that she is a bit too bossy and it seems that she struggled through the first challenge. That could work to her advantage in that she is not the physical threat. Then again, the strategy might be to keep the strong players to help with challenges and worry about getting rid of them later in the game.

I can hardly wait for next week.

Poor Wanda - I knew she was a goner when she started singing. The youngsters were all thinking "Oh boy - she's older AND she's wierd?? 39 days of this is gonna be too much!"

Of course, I had her on one of my fantasy league teams...AND Jo AND Jonathan! I should be so lucky with the lottery! :rotfl:

I think that it was only partly because of the challenge. Really, they were so terrible rowing that it was impossible for them to win no matter what strategy they used.

The other part of Jolanda's problem was that she was extremely bossy. She announced at one point something like "Everyone can only work two hours, and then you have to rest for one hour. No exceptions." That was just insane! There are plenty of other strong-willed people on the team, and they aren't going to stand for that very long. If you look at who's done well in past seasons, you'll find young people and old people, strong and weak people, athletic and clumsy people, etc. But I don't think you'll find any bossy ones.

I was very disappointed to see Jonathan go. He was such a cutie and would have made nice eye candy while everyone was fighting...... :cool1:

Glad to see Jo go. Although, after reading her bio, I knew she would not last. She was too overpowering and had too much baggage from her past to let anyone ride her.

Stephanie showed she can be a leader - go girl.

Mostly, everyone kept away from every one else.

My next pick for next week is to get rid of Coby and his rediculous pink shirt. He seems very mean spirited and should have picked Angie (that was very telling). I would not trust him - I think he wears too many faces. He is almost as annoying as Wanda was.

Don't know if Ulong has any "gotta get rid of's" yet, but give me a minute and I'll let you know.....

like Grog, I am just posting to subscribe to the thread. It is soo hard to find it if you miss on Fri morning.

Is anyone hoping that Tom gets far. He is quite good looking, athletic and smart. He maybe a huge threat though, because of his attributes. Anyway, since they dropped Jonathan, I only have Tom as my eye candy. ;)

At first, I was rooting for Jo since she's a homegirl, but once she started getting bossy, I knew it was between her and Angie to get voted out, with Jo being a slight favorite. After all the seasons of Survivor, I can't believe that there are still contestants who paint a bullseye on their backs the way Jo did. They might as well just stand up at TC and say "please vote me out tonight".

Jo's personality is very strong. It will get her far, as her bio states, but not very far in Survivor. The ones that fall just below the radar seem to shine through.

I just watched part of the show again. And I had forgotten that she said this really close to the time they were going to TC. And the look on her face, was one that said, challange me, I dare you. It was after that they the rest of the team, that was on the fence of who they were going to vote for, started gunning for her. So yah, it was a build up of things that she did that really led to her getting voted off.

And I don't know why she was trying to get Angie voted off. She was not pulling up the rear on the challange, she was in the thick of it. But one of the guys was. I couldn't reconize who it was though.

I don't remember if Angie was a liability during the challange. I didn't get a clear picture on who was untieing the knots other than Jo, Bobby Jon and Stephanie overlooking.

My assumption is that the game allows them some time to strategize just before they begin and they didn't have a clear strategy. At tribal council, Jeff looked terribly annoyed at Ulong.

On the other hand, Konor (?) was very prepared for this challange. Still no clear leaders are emerging from either tribe. So, how does one do it well, and the other fall apart?

Well I'm pulling for him only since he's from my area. I have a feeling, though, that his mouth is going to get him in trouble at some point. He's a bit outspoken and won't be one to "fly below the radar".

Yes, you are correct. Tom is outspoken, however, to-date only to the media (cameras). He seems quite in a crowd. I think he's smart enough to realize that he is a threat to everyone. I like Stephanie, Janu and Willard, although, he was a problem during the challange and he is very opinionated.

We'll see.....

I think I remember the girl with the strapless pastel blue dress from Pearl Islands (I don't remember her name, just that I couldn't believe she had to jump off the boat wearing a dress like that, lol) say that she was recruited while walking down the street, because they were trying to find people who were not familiar with the show.

Also, did I miss it, why were they dressed in street clothes again? You would think that after Pearl Islands they'd be wearing sensible clothes and shoes at all times.

And didn't Jeff look as if he's been working out? I don't remember him showing off his arms as much before.

I think they did to them, the same thing that they did to the Pearl Island peeple. They just told them that they were going for a photo op, and then they find out that is not true. But yah, I agree after Pearl, they all should have known better. I did look like some of them, not all of them were in their sunday's finest.

I am thankful that Wanda didn't make it any longer than she did. I thought that Jo was very to much of a boss and wasn't surprised by her getting voted off. I can't wait until Thursday to see what happens next.

I have got to go study up on the rest of them so it doesn't take me so long to remember their names.

Right before the last girl was making her choice between Jonathan and Will - Jeff asked Jonathan how he felt - he seemed a little cocky at that point - saying "Well, I did think I would get chosen before now"... which seemed to indicate that he knew, up against Will, that he would be chosen.

I was reading thru wondering why I didn't see this till page 8!!! As soon as Jonathan said that, DH said "he just sealed his fate". Maybe if a younger gal was picking, she'd pick him....but Caryn is older (& yes, probably didn't like the comment and his attitude!) and went with Will.....yay!! I was feelin' sorry for Will (cuz I thought he was goin' home), but yay!! He stayed. :cool1: As for the rest of them, a LOT of younger folks this time......a LOT!!
