That was just Burnett's way of giving her the easy way out. He wasn't going to give her the money, but allowed her to "ask" him to donate it to his favorite charity. She saves face, he feels good, everybody's happy. Well, she's not so happy, but it gives her a certain amount of closure, at least from the media.
From her bosses, not so sure.
