Survivor All Star OFFICIAL THREAD!

I'm another who agrees with Bicker and Always quiet. I'm tired of the cheater/villian winning all the time and was so glad that the public voted for Rupert to win the million on Thursday. I think that it is a lousy way to show that if you lie, cheat, etc. then you will be rewarded with the big prize money. Bicker's idea makes it a smarter game.

But the cheaters/villians DON'T always win. Ethan made it through Africa and Tina through Australia, and, IIRC, niether of them got a single vote against them until the final tribal council. Niether was decietful - Tina pretty much flew under the radar, and Ethan was just straight up a winner. Sandra on Pearl Islands is another I could not consider a villian.

And Rob M was the cheater/villain in All Stars - yet he lost, to Amber. And Johnny Fairplay didn't win Pearl Islands. So I agree the cheater/villain doesn't necessarily win.

I am a fairly recent convert to Survivor, so I don't know if this is common or not. The reason I did not care for Boston Rob was the way he ridiculed the others during his private camera time. His game playing skills were excellent, but I don't remember any of the others being so nasty with their comments. Some were whiny, some were honest, and some were angry at various times, and that seemed normal under the circumstances. But BR's arrogance just turned me off.

You do have to wonder why he went out of his way to make fun of the others. And in suh an unkind way. He had to know the others would see what he said eventually. Or he had to know if he is as smart as people think he is.

It is true that only two villains have actually won (and incidentally, those were two of the three men who won -- wonder if there is some connection there...) However, I think there are a lot of people who would prefer those folks getting more just desserts. Specifically (and I've said this before), Boston Rob played a masterful game for Second Place. I'm not sure, though, that playing for Second Place should be rewarded with Second Place. I'd rather see Second Place go to the person who did the second-best job of playing for First Place.

Rather, he did indeed do those things, just not in such a cut-throat manner. He knows that he has to live with himself after the game is over. By winning this million we see proof-positive that he even outplayed Rob.

I am not a big Rob fan, but I have to say that Rupert did not outplay Rob, the only reason he won was popularity with the fans. Rob outplayed everyone there and although I don't like him for it, he did deserve to win.

Jenna also wasn't a villian. The only 2 villians that won were Richard and Brian. And the end of Thailand with Brian upset me even more than the end of Marquesas...

Rupert being on POTC 2 will make me not want to see it. I definitely agree with whoever said Rupert is a little too in love with himself...:sad2:

Again: Rupert won $1M. Rob did not. Therefore Rupert outplayed Rob.
Rob outplayed everyone there and although I don't like him for it, he did deserve to win.
I can understand you arguing the Rupert outplayed Rob point, but there is no defense for asserting that Rob outplayed Amber. There is no rational basis to disagree with the assertion that Amber outplayed Rob. She won. He didn't. It's much easier to play for Second Place than to play for First Place.

No, this was after the game was over. The public voted. Not only that, but they didn't even limit the number of votes that one person could put in the computer.
The thing that bothers me is now when they play this game again will the Survivors think hmmm should I play the game? Or be nice so the public gives me a million? Can you imagaine how boring the game would be if everyone played nice?

Guess what..........DD talked to Big Tom on the phone today!

She was sooooooo excited - she's a big Survivor fan.

DH is at a Convention and Tom was there. So DH was talking to him and asked if he would speak to DD9. So there we were having lunch today and DH calls and says someone wants to speak to DD.

You should have seen her smile :teeth:
Tom was really nice and had a nice chat with her. DH is also coming home with an autographed picture.

DD keeps asking people if they watched Survivor, so she could tell her story. Alot of people didn't watch (huh??) so I told her I'd tell my DIS friends.......they'd be impressed!

Great story, that was really nice of Big Tom!

I've been watching the first 8 episodes of the first Survivor this evening...my how the game has evolved. I really do not see Rich as a "villian" per se (at least so far....I watched it all originally in the summer of 2000 but it's been so long). He does NOT bad mouth the other players the way we have seen the last few seasons...he observes, is cocky, but does not do personal attacks the way we have seen since Marqueses or so. And they seemed to have a LOT of luxuries- their personal item from home, nets, blankets, started off with fishing line and hooks...and it just seems so fresh. I'm lovin it! Best of all- no commercials and I can FF through the intro too! :p

I too was surprised at Rob making it into the final 4, but I am so glad he did get awarded the million.

We are Rupert fans & are so glad it he that got that million. He's a decent bloke as is Tom. Had Tom won that would have been ok too, but Rupert was our big favourite.

I'm just glad he finally got something as I really think he deserved it.

As a society, we should be trying to set a good example for our youth. Giving a child a perfect test score on an exam that he cheated on is the same as awarding a million dollars to someone who "out lied, out cheated and out screwed" his fellow players.

This is life. The people who out lied, out cheat and out screw DO often wind up with the money. But the people who are decent, honest people wind up with so much more. I have no problem with kids seeing this if they have a parent around to put it in context for them. There are going to be people out there that will try to scam your kids at some point in life, I think I would actually rather my child see this and start to learn what he is going to be up against than be too sheltered.
