Survivor 48--Who's Watching?

Was not happy to see Steph voted off. I tend to like the more colorful, flaky type personalities as they give the show some flavor. Wish they had voted Sai off instead. If she keeps playing this hard she'll be voted off soon enough.
That was my thoughts actually, well that I wished that Sai have been voted off instead and Stephanie had stayed. It wasn't about the flaky part of Stephanie (as that can annoy me after a while) but that she went in hard after Sai. While there is a point to be had about ensuring you form some bonds with some people early on enough there's also the players who go in so flashy in the beginning they cast a big suspicion and distrust about them. It was noticed that Sai had been gone for a long time looking for idols. That's very bold and often bites that player in the butt later on when they do that too soon.

Sai also acted like she was this amazing player when she had help from multiple players to figure out the symbols and what the letters spelled out, not only that but she came off a bit righteous in that I suspect she's going to end up being more controlling to the other players and rather than lead, she'll just expect them to do what she wants without much consideration though time will tell on that.

I think Stephanie was an easy vote off due to the puzzle challenge like we've seen in past seasons early on people don't really have a feel for everyone and can often pick the fall person, I think Stephanie last night was that fall person. I would have loved her shot in the dark to say she was safe as that would have meant Sai was voted out with an idol in her pocket, for entertainment value that would have been great to have seen.

He definitely is and I hope he lasts. It's been a long time since they've had someone with his type of character on the show. Instantly rooting for him.

I agree with you about Steph and flaky types. I like Kaos Kass and also liked Emily Flippen from 45 and Carolyn Wiger from 44

I'm a Survivor fanatic - been watching since season 1! I consume all the podcasts pre-season, after each episode, and read tons of articles. Here are my thoughts

1. On the outfit Stephanie wore - all of the contestants pack their bags and then the clothes they wear when marooned are chosen for them. So while those are her clothes, yes, she didn't pick them for the game, she might have brought them thinking she'd wear them around Ponderosa and then the costume team decided they would be her clothes for the game.

2. I liked Stephanie a lot in her pre-game interview so I'm bummed she's out. She was also my dad's winner assignment (he's in a pool) so he won't win the pot. My mom's winner assignment is still in the game (Kevin).

3. The moment with Kevin and Kyle was very sweet and I hope they get to work together in the future. Eve and Joe were also a cute moment. I didn't think I'd like Eve from her pre-game interviews but my first impression might have been wrong!

4. Sai played herself the way she came for Stephanie. She had the votes/alliance, she didn't need to play so hard or come so hard for Steph.

5. The green team is going to have a rough go if it. They weren't totally out, but clearly the other teams have visibly stronger people.

6. Shauhin is much shorter than I expected. He gave tall energy in his pre-game interviews.

7. This cast is... loud. So loud. I need them to bring the energy down like, one notch.

8. Don't forget to vote for season 50! The first 4 questions are about fire making at final 4, the reunion show, tribe colors, and rice. The website is survivor50cbs [dot] votenow [dot] tv

Are any of you aware of the Shauhin and Sherri Papini connection? She preyed on him when he was 15 and she was 20. His interview with Inside Edition from 2 years ago.

I wish the surgeon had kept his mouth shut and not told her to play her idol.
I don’t get why they don’t see how dangerous she is. Plus I find her so obnoxious. It seems on the other 2 tribes some of the ones I like the most are targets like Mitch, Charity, and Ava hope those are the correct ones I have trouble remembering names.

Justin blew by not telling Cedric the truth. If he had he'd still be there and Sai would be gone. Cedric's not going to last too much longer if he keeps being so undecisive.
I feel like Justin could have spoken up and swayed him. I am not a fan or Sai but she asserted herself and fought hard for her spot. Too bad. Mary sure got lucky! It will be interesting to see how Sai interacts with the others once they merge next week. People may keep her, thinking a jury won't vote for her, but she is very convincing. It was not smart to keep her, but that is very easy for me to say while sitting on my couch watching the edited version. :)

I’m happy for Mary. I hated when they did it to that guy last time when they ran after them when they were looking for an idol.

Now they are split up let’s see what happens now.
I said that to my family as well that she reminds me of the guy from last season I think his name is Rome who stalked someone as he looked and how I hate people who act like bullies. I knew Ced was going to be dumb and she would still be here. Mary is one of the people I really like so glad she is still here.

Yeah I don't disagree about why it made Cedric's vote for Justin was easier but Justin was also right that Cedric isn't the best as strategy so I get why he kept it from him.

Sai is soooooo dang pushy and bully-like that Cedric being who he is wouldn't be able to make his decision based on strategy but rather Sai being emotionally manipulative and Jason isn't that kind of person. Jason spoke more practical knowing yeah he probably was going to be voted out.

Cedric's so call stipulation is really weird for the game of Survivor like "go play nice now and I'll keep one of you" isn't exactly how you should be making decisions on who stays and who goes so to me that reinforces Jason's perception of Cedric's gameplay.

I think she just bullied herself in, which is a way some players do keep themselves in the game but isn't necessarily sticking up for one's self with giving good rationales. She just used Cedric's wishy-washyness to her advantage. I agree she's playing but she's been playing with just her tribe and those types of players that just bulldoze over their own tribe until they are gone and then the merge happens can find themselves struggling because they don't jive well enough with the other players post merge. It'll be interesting to see how this tribe switch up does if people find Sai likeable or not and if she manages to form an alliance with people who are at the same level as her or if she just goes for the people she thinks she can control.

I did notice that Sai seems to have had issues with both Stephanie and Mary...methinks the real issue (as most of us have the same opinion of Sai as well) is Sai and how she approaches other people.

Mary is one of the people I really like so glad she is still here.
And for all the running of the game that Sai thinks she's doing she played right into the hands of what Mary strategized. Mary felt the safest way was for her to act like she had no care in the world as it would make the other players think something was up and she had something of value (advantage or idol). It worked on Sai and actually didn't work on Cedric.

Very happy that Mary's shot in the dark showed she was safe.
