I just received a link to take a survey for the Member Cruise.

They are considering going to an on-line application through dvcmember.com?

I told them that, with the highly unreliable web site, a lot of people could be disappointed when everybody tried surfing in at once and crashed the system.

I don't like the present way have having to call for hours only to be told that the cruise is filled; but, it seems that going through dvcmember.com for a time-stamped reservation form could/would be worse.

I agree with everything you said. I also took the survey. I responded to keep the present system. Even though it isn't perfect, by any means, I can see the reservations getting really messed up by the web site they have in place. I also would like to know if I got the reservation at the time of booking, that it is what I requested and without having to wait days for a response.

Wow, I thought I would be the only one who said to keep the present system.

I didn't get a survey...:sad2:...maybe that's good, because I wouldn't know how to answer!

I've never been on the cruise because of the way it must be booked. I just can't see sitting on hold for hours on end. We were actually on a cruise last year on booking day so I couldn't have done it if I had wanted to. It seems there must be a better way to do this I'm just not sure what it is.:confused3

I voted to keep it the way it currently is. The option I was given was that you would book online, and give your top 3 category preferences. You would find out a couple of days later if you made it on to the cruise, and which category you got. Supposedly they will time stamp requests. No thanks. Not only do I think they will mess up the time stamping, I think that the website will crash. Even if by some miracle, DVC's online system actually worked correctly, I don't want my points used without me knowing exactly how many and for what category in advance. What happens if you want to use cash and points? No thanks.

I also voted that they keep the current system.

While I don't like the way it is currently for booking, I did vote to keep it the way it is rather than internet based. I wouldn't trust that, too much can go wrong and you have no control over your booking fate.

I have not taken the survey yet but I do not like the idea they are pushing. I agree that the current way is better then the one proposed...smjj

I just took it too and responded that the history with the IT in Disney the system would inevitably crash and there would be a lot of upset members. I also said that the current system couldn't handle that many members lobbing for an early timestamp.

Just took the survey and responded to keep the current way. Told them I need to know when I am done weather or not we are in or out. I also told them I prefer to speak with a rep and not just depend on the online process that I am sure would be overwhelmed...smjj

Wow.. looks like I'm going to be out voted on this one :)
The last member cruise I booked over the phone, I got disconnected after 2 hours on hold. We also don't have a land-line, so it uses an awful lot of cell phone min.

I felt the survey didn't offer enough options for change. It was either phone in and stay on hold for hours or crash the system trying to get a reservation?

I sure hope DVC has more creative minds at work who can think outside the box.....
