We have been planning our trip to see Mickey for February 2010 - but have recently decided to go on a shorter trip in August. My birthday is the 14th and my youngest sons is August 16 (the day we will arrive). We are planning on surprising them (well my oldest one really, who is 6). I was thinking of maybe wrapping some Disney shirts up or something and letting them open the gifts the night before we leave with a note saying we are going to Disney World. Or maybe just getting them up and dressed and telling them we're going on a trip and not tell them where - but turn on Disney movies in the car, giving them their ears on the way down, something exciting and fun.

Anyone done something like that - or have a great way/ideas to really surprise your kids?

Thanks for all help and suggestions!!

I like the idea of a mysterious package being delivered .... kids open it and a balloon floats up w/an invitation attached to the bottom inviting the family to WDW.

Or a message in a bottle mysteriously showing up inviting yall to Disney.....how great would it be to get an invitation from Mickey and have Mom and Dad look at each other saying, "Why not? Let's go!!Now!!".

We ordered them t-shirts from the Disney Outlet & had them shipped with gift wrap and a card ... the card was an invitation to come & see them at the park! The Outlet has awesome prices on cute t's right now - most are around $5!

This question has popped up on several other threads and I have posted what I'm planning on doing to surprise my DS11 with our December trip to AKL. We are planning to order in Chinese food and "plant" our pre-made fortunes. We have several messages in mind: 1)A magical journey awaits you
2) What will you celebrate? 3) When you wish upon a star your dreams come true. On the back, we are going to have our Lucky#'s be our travel dates. I'm also toying with the idea of having a box "delivered" that has the Mickey balloon inside with our reservation attached. I do love the commercial when the boy opens the envelope and the balloon pops out! I always get teary eyed. :lovestruc

I'm totally loving the idea of a balloon floating out of a box with a note attached!

Too bad my kids already know about our trip. :(

hi, we are planning on having a box delivered with a mickey balloon and a donald and daisy cuddly toy inside it (they have mickey and minnie already!) inviting us to meet them in Orlando. We plan to do this at about 9.00 am, then our lift to the airport hotel is picking us up at 10.30, and we are flying the next day! I cant wait, just a shame we have to wait til aug 10! That is obviously if i don't let it slip before hand!

We surprised our kids with Mickey shaped balloons floating out of their Christmas gift. I had also made a photo book about out previous trips and at the end wrote that they were going agin. Good luck with your surprise- be sure to have cameras ready! Their faces were priceless!

We're planning a surprise too...keep the ideas coming! I love the balloon in a box. My sister had a package on the front step from Cinderella inviting her daughter to meet her at BBB...too cute!
