Hi everyone! We are planning a "maybe" trip in late August, the week before school starts. I have the tentative reservations at ASSports for the free dining, have our ADR's and even bought airfare (which I will use next April if I can't pull this one off financially). Anyway, the plan is for this to be a complete and total surprise for the kids. The tickets are out of NH (we live in Mass) and the kids don't even know there's an airport there (we usually fly out of Boston). We thought we'd do something like, talk day before about what a bummer it is that there is only a week left of summer, etc. Then pack the bags when they are sleeping. Tell them first thing in the morning that we've decided to get away for a few days..."let's go explore NH" type of thing. Then we'd pull into the airport and ?????? That's where I'm stuck...would you just say, "surprise...we're going to WDW" or would you play a trivia game on the way there...or ???? Looking for brilliant ideas on how to pull it off. :D IF we can do it anyway.

I wouldn't wait until you get there to tell them. Most of them will be able to it out once they announce the flight to orlando. I would tell them once you get to the airport. How about whipping out some mouse ears to announce where you are going. Or maybe giving the older ones travel guides? We sometimes like to suprise our son. We live close enough to drive. We'll leave at like 9pm and tell him we are going for a drive and then he wakes up in the hotel parking lot. He always figures it out at that point. I guess my kid is really good at regocnizing WDW parking lots.

I think announcing just before you get to the airport is the most exciting. That's what we did with our kids

One of my favorite things to do on YouTube is to type in "Disney surprise" (or other similar phrases). You wouldn't believe the number of "Surprise! We're going to Disney!" videos that pop up. The parents are so creative and some of the videos bring tears to my eyes. You should look on YouTube when you have some free time. Maybe you could put a fresh spin on some of the ideas you see. :)

Definately check out the YouTube surprises...they are great. I would tell them ahead of time...given your kiddo's ages...I think they will figure out that something is up. And I'm assuming that you are flying out of Manchester...which means that as soon as you get off the highway, there are airport signs...a good eye will catch them.

Your kids are a little old for this but we have tinkerbell come to our house the night before we leave. She leaves a trail of pixie dust to a basket of goodies for the plane/trip. It's one of the most exciting parts of the trip for my daughter!

Happy Planning...Neighbor :)!!!
