Husband is military. We are planning a trip in October 2016 after a LONG period away from each other. As of now we are also planning on taking nieces with us and our son.
I was wanting to fly husband into Orlando and have him take the magical express to our resort and wait for us to arrive (Kids and I will be driving). I have seen the youtube videos of proposals with help of Disney employees and wonder if anyone has done this before.
When I call to book who do i speak to about this? A lot of occasions will be missed so I want big surprises for EVERYONE! Any help and advice is welcomed :)

My guess would be to get in touch with the resort directly and ask them. I'm sure they often have guests wanting to plan surprises for special occasions so they would probably have some ideas and no doubt they would be more than willing to help for something so lovely!

If all you want is for him to take the DME from the airport to your WDW resort (and he is booked in your room at that resort)
there is nothing "special" that needs to be planned.
He can certainly take DME and be waiting for you either in your room (if it's ready) or
anywhere at the resort for when you arrive.

Cell phones for both parities will make sure everyone is aware of time and locations.

If you'll say which resort, we can offer some ideas here, too.

Definitely!! If the nieces go too we we stop at Florida rest area (because its a tradition of mine that my papa started to get orange juice after crossing state line) I plan on giving them bags with Disney stuff in in trip shirt etc and watching the fun begin...and then a couple hours later watching my son see his dad!..It will be an emotional day! lol

The biggest potential snafu I can see with this is if the kids are old enough to be involved in the FP+ planning. If they aren't, and have nothing to do with that aspect of the trip, simply add him to the reservation, and add DME for him only. He should be able to take DME and check into the room before you arrive. No CM involvement needed this way. If they are old enough to help with FP+, then they would see his name on the reservation, which might blow the surprise. You could get around this by adding him after FP+ is planned, or even as late as a day or two before your trip (I think DME needs 24 hours notice) and then have him get there that way. That would preclude him from any hard to get FP+ bookings however.

This was my idea for surprising my parents if my sister is able to meet us at Disney.

Have someone take a family pic. Have your husband photobomb it in the background so the kids don't see him. Show your son the pic and and if he doesn't notice your husband init, say, "Who is this on our pic?"

I'm still hoping this could happen for us!

Good luck!

My thought was when we checked in the person at front desk telling my son Mickey sent a very special package for him. and then my husband come out or something?...I've got awhile to think things through lol

When my husband was in the military, he traveled a lot. Like here for a week, then gone for two, then back for two, then gone for three, then back for one, etc. One time the husband was gone and a dear friend of ours called to say he would be attending a class at our home base so could he stay with us? I explained he was welcome but the husband was gone and would be back that weekend. So our friend went to the airport an hour and a half away to pick up the husband with myself and my son. Husband had no idea the friend was there. My son and I met the plane (this was back when you could do that) and the friend walked up behind my husband and "accidentally" bumped into him. Lots of "excuse me" stuff until my husband realized who bumped into him! So, "accidental" bump in the lobby of your resort.

Could you have your husband do a card from "Mickey" and when he checks in he could give them the card to give to you when you check in?

Sounds great, but I'm curious, you are talking a year and a half away -- how do you know the timing will work out? My husband was military, and other than a PCS (and often not even for that!), there was no way he would know that far out what his deployment schedule would be.

Would you wait to make reservations until you know his schedule? What if you make the reservations and he will be back a week earlier or something, would you have him go somewhere else so that he wouldn't see the family that week?

These are just questions that popped into my head when you wrote October of 2016. Best of luck planning the trip, and thank you to your husband for his service!
