I made the arrangements yesterday for DH to do the 8 lap Driving Experince in 2 weeks. It is his early Christmas Gift. Anyone have any ideas how I can tell him?? I want to wait until we are at least on our way to WDW. I just hope I can keep it a secret and can get the mail before him until the papers arrive.

My wife tried to surprise me with the RPDE just last month (9/20).
She had to give in and tell me early because I was about to book a Keys To The Kingdom tour at the exact same time she had me scheduled to drive.
Maybe you could order a hat or T-shirt with the RPDE logo and give it as a gift on the plane.

It's a great time, I'm sure he'll love it. If the crowds are light enough they offer you extra laps at a reduced rate, and ride-alongs are $65. My wife didn't do the ride-along and now she regrets it. Maybe it's something you would consider...
Email me if you have any questions about the experience.

Thanks for the reply extreme8.

I take it you are a Jr. Fan. So is my DH. I think my DH is going to love the RPDE. I am so excited for him. I hope I can keep it a secret.

HI, I did the RPDE as a gift for my uncle's b-day! All my family met up and we went to dinner. At dinner we said we had a surprise for him and we had taken the conformations/explanation papers and wrapped them in a big box, he had to keep opening just to get to the papers. When he finally was reading them he didn't understand it and when we told him that he was gonna do it he was so happy and surprised. Maybe you could wrap it and give it to him in the car or plane.:earseek: He's Gonna love it!!!! Have a great time.

I also would love to do that for my DH. He went to a race a year ago and ended up talking to some guys who work for RPDE. I'm not sure which experience he'd like. Can we just give a gift certificate?

I don't know if they offer gift certificates. I think my wife had to schedule and pay before they sent me the confirmation and releases.
The releases basically say that driving a race car is dangerous. It says that RPDE takes good care of their cars but if something goes wrong you could die, and even if nothing goes wrong you could die - either way it's not their problem. It also says that if you wreck the car by accident you're not responsible, but if you do it on purpose (?!?!) you are.

As far as choosing a package; When I was there I learned about the possibility of running extra laps at a discounted price. You can save some significant $$. It's basically the "kings experience" at a $200 savings, but it's not guaranteed (depends on the size of the class). It may make sense to buy the less expensive "rookie experience" and see if you can upgrade once you're there.
email me if you have any questions that I might be able to help you with.

We will be or rather my husband will be surprised with this on November 16th. Dreams Unlimited is booking this for him per my request. I can't wait to see him drive, if I could afford it, I would probably have more fun myself...ahh sacrifice!

Thanks:
Carol
