Hi, I would like to surprise my boys with a gift in the resort room when we arrive. Does anyone know of any sites that can help me with this? :confused3 And if so, did you use it and how was the gift? Thanks for the help... :)

I have ordered baskets for my children from a member of this site, Peggy. I don't know for sure Disney's policy about having them be IN the room before we get there but I did ask for our arrival day to be the delivery day.

You can find her site at www.peggyssweetsandmore.com .

I bought my kids Mickey P.J.'s and put them on the beds when they were not looking so they were there when we got back to the room the first night. We really did breathe, eat and sleep disney!

The only way to have a gift or "surprise" waiting in the room when you arrive, is if you are staying concierge. This is because they don't assign room numbers until check in for non-concierge rooms. Otherwise, what you can do is simply check in, leave your luggage with bell services, and hit the parks for a couple of hours. Then when you return, the resort should have been able to get the gift into the room. Have a great trip!

ddisney - I have also used Peggys Sweets and More several times and love her gift boxes (and working with her!). In my experience the WDW resorts will not deliver anything to your room prior to check in and your room being assigned because they don't pre-assign the rooms. The Universal Resorts do and our baskets have always been waiting in the room for us. After we've checked in at WDW and our room was ready and assigned, I just stopped over to Guest Services to see if the gifts were delivered (with Peggy they always were :thumbsup2 ) - than they will bring them up to the room when they have a 'runner' available - one time they were practically right behind us as we were getting our luggage delivered and announced "special delivery from Mickey!" - DNeph was grinning from ear to ear ! :goodvibes

The policy seems to vary from resort to resort. DH has sent me flowers to be waiting for me on 2 separate trips I took without him. At POR, when I called home to let him know I got there OK, he asked "Didn't you have something waiting for you?" Obviously not. So I had to call the front desk and they delivered the flowers. At BC last year, when I took Mom for Mother's Day, the CM who was checking me in suddenly said, "I have to leave-just a second." Apparently she called whoever to put the flowers in our room, because a few minutes later, when we got to our room, there they were!

I too have to agree www.peggyssweetsandmore.com
Her baskets are beautiful. She sent one for my dd 18th birthday and she was so excited to get such a great gift basket.

We stayed @ CBR last year and our room # had already assigned a few days earlier. I called to request a certain view, is that why? :)

On our honeymoon, a friend of ours ordered us a champagne gift basket, and it was waiting for us in our room when we first checked in at POR.

I'm not sure...As far as I know, the regular rooms are assigned at check-in. If you pay for a specific "view", then you will surely get a room with that view, but I think the specific room number is assigned at check-in. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

My DD will be graduating from High School and her senior trip is to WDW. Ihave contacted Peggy about a suprise for DD when we get there. SHe was very prompt to email me what I needed to get started. She seems very nice and always very helpful.

We got a basket from Peggy, too, and it was not in our room when we arrived for the very same reason others have said (they don't assign you a room until you get there.) But within 5 minutes, there was a knock on the door and it was the bellman with the basket. So that was pretty good service! This was at the Doubletree in Downtown Disney.

BTW, the kids LOVED the basket and having some Disney surprises waiting for them.

Just another plug for Peggy - I just ordered a basket this week, for our trip the end of the month (DS bday). I wanted a few toys, besides the plush items. I gave her some vague ideas (Buzz, Incredibles, nothing too large to pack for airplane). She went to DDD, found a few things, emailed me info and price - and everything she selected was EXACTLY what I had in mind. I can't wait for DS to get the basket.

I have used Peggy several times, also Gifts of a Lifetime, and WDW Florist. Peggy was terrific to work with as was Jane at Gifts. The folks at Disney Florist were happy to give me pretty close to what I needed. Of all of them, Peggy was/is the most flexible.
Now....I have yet to have something in the room waiting for us. When I had a box ordered for my dd last June, it was given to her upon check-in. However, the box I had ordered for dh for Father's Day was waiting for him in the room on Father's Day. But, that was 2 days after we got there. When I used GoaL, and Jane, the folks at the S/D seemed to forget that there was a basket to be delivered. It was to be delivered to my friend on her birthday but she got it a day late. Jane made some calls and got it done..the right way. Seems everyone thought that somebody else had taken care of it. And this was 3 days after my friend checked in!!!
With Disney Florist, the basket was held at the front desk and given to the person when he checked in.

I have been told, on several occasions, that they won't put anything in a room until that room has been assigned. And that happens upon check-in. Yes, they have it sort of assigned several days out, but there is a lot of changing around, so the room you were tentitively given by the assigners on Wed, may in fact, be different than the room you actually get when you checkin on Friday. The person who was in your room may have decided to add a day, so you get assigned a different room.
If you really want something put in the room, I would ask that it be held until check in. Then, rather than go right to your room, I would head to the parks or a pool...giving the CMs some leeway in time to get a gift to the room.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I am going to check in with Peg and see what I can come up with. Thanks again. :goodvibes
