Surprised Waitlist Came Thru

I'm not complaining but very surprised my wait list came through for the last weekend of Food and Wine at the Boardwalk (4 nights).

When we decided to go down a month or so ago, there were no studios available and since we wanted to save points anyway, we did not bother waitlisting and just booked a room at a moderate. But after doing some calculations, we decided we needed more points anyway so we just last week bought a small add on contract direct from Disney. As part of the purchase I asked them as a "courtesy" to book me a dvc room for the weekend we are down there. NOTHING was available anywhere, not even SSR or OKW. I asked for a standard room at the Boardwalk but they had to really pull some strings just to get us a studio room at OKW. I was still very happy to be at OKW using points over cash at a mod. I still went ahead and put in a waitlist for Boardwalk. It just came though. I am just very surprised we got it so quickly or even at all. I don't know if it is luck, pixie dust or they were still pulling strings for a "new" member. Again, not complaining!!

I had a similar experience myself yesterday with a waitlist at BVW for May. Happily surprised.

Now I think maybe I will push my luck and waitlist standard view to save 21 points. I have nearly 6 months.....

It was probably due to someone holding on to their reservation as long as possible hoping for a situation to resolve so they could go on their trip. When it didn't, they cancelled just before the 31 day deadline to avoid having their points going into holding.

I gave up Nov 7-10 in a standard view BWV studio yesterday. My daughter had a surgery on Monday that we thought would be over and done with before Nov, but now they have to go in again and do more surgery just before our vacation weekend, so I let it go. We go back in Jan-Feb anyway for 2 weeks.

Back in 2000 when I bought in, I was able to get a reservation at BWV where I'd bought through MS. I bought in November and called for Xmas after I got back home from Disney - had no idea about limited availability at Xmas - MS made it happen for us.
