Surprised the kids, wife, and my readers w/ a 2 week trip to AoA!(*NEW* 11-7)

One of the most enjoyable TR's I've seen yet. REALLY makes me want to stay at AoA... too bad it's only 3 of us, and all that's available on our dates are suites. Maybe one day!

Loving the F&W report since we will be there in October. I really didn't know what to expect but your pictures are super helpful.

Can't wait to read more. A 2 week trip is just awesome!

Awe poor Parker. Mickey ice cream is essential when you go to Disney! Well, I actually skipped it in March because the highs were in the 40s. Coldest I've every been at Disney!

Thanks again for posting all of the menus. It's really helping me in my planning for this October.

I had to laugh at this post. I just did the same quest for a Mickey Bar in May. I did find one in World showcase but it was not on the menu. I guess I just happened to ask the right CM.

Man, after checking out those menus, that is some serious willpower not to stop and grab something! That ravioli from Italy looked really good.

I'm in suspense on the Mickey bar now...I'll have to check in when I get back!:thumbsup2

Have been lurking a while but wanted to say - your trip reports are SO fun and your kids are adorable. They make me look forward to taking our own kiddos to Disney one day!

Thanks for sharing the pictures of the food booth menus - some really tasty looking stuff on there.

I'm so surprised there were no Mickey bars in America...
:welcome: glad to have you posting.

glad you are enjoying the report.

the food in epcot was really good, and many more options we wanted to have but just did not...ohh well always next time right.

i was too, they had other stuff but no mickey bars, im wondering if none of hte carts had any because it had recently rained, and maybe they took them away.:confused3

I am hungry now and sad for Parker but also amused at what he did find time for :thumbsup2

Fun update!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep funny how they can get side tracked and go for other things when just a few minutes ago they HAD to have the ice cream.

Poor Parker

Guessing you had to venture out to Future World to get him his ice cream bar

I am a picky person, but after looking at your food signs, a lot of that food actually looked really good

:goodvibes

we do venutre to future world soon, but a few more stops first.

it did sound really good didnt they....always next time to get them though and a reason to go back during food and wine time.

So many yummy looking food choices, and I see some of my favorite wineries there, too - you showed a lot of restraint holding out for that elusive Mickey Bar! :thumbsup2
i know the things we do or dont do for our kids, like passing on some awesome food samples and booze samples.:)

:welcome: thanks for reading along, i would suggest to just keep trying to check back a few times a week and see if something opens, up, especially try around the 60 or 50 day mark before your trip, see if someone cancels there reservations before that 45 day have to pay for the whole trip window rolls around.

you will love the food and wine fest...before you go check out the website to see what the booths are offerings this year, generally there is a post on the dis somewhere that has pictures of all the offerings after the first week they are open.

then you get a visual of what everything looks like as well.

i know there ice cream is really good, i favor the mickey ice cream sandwhiches though, they are my favorite.

generally the menus are the same from year to year, so glad to help you plan for your next trip.

huh, never thought to ask for off menu stuff, you would think that even though it is other countries you are going around they would still have the bars available...but maybe they are doing that to force you into buying there deserts instead.

:confused3

it was really awesome, we made something close to it a while back, where we took ravioli and used those as layers of lasagna instead of regular noodles, then between each ravioli layer we did a really thick meat sauce where it was basically 75 meat, 25 sauce...then layers of ravioli again, and then meat again, it was really good and almost better than regular lasagna.

have a great trip, hope you guys have fun surfing the waves.

Bummer that you had to miss out on all of the food!

i know right? the things we do for our kids.

but we figured they sat through all of our food adventures thus far in the day it was time to find something he really wanted.

While waiting and watching the sugar ray concert parker informed me he was hungry for ice cream.

so who am I to deny my little buddy a tasting for a mickey bar.
Not sure, but it seems like you did a really good job of it............ :scratchin

when we left the american adventure, i had already checked all the food places there and found no such luck in acquiring a mickey bar for paker. you would think, america would have some but nope, what is more american than ice cream.
Hot dogs? Apple pie? Chevrolet??? Oh wait............... :rolleyes2

but a ravioli did temp the adults and noelle into trying some.
DSC05472_zps647b66ba.jpg

and why stop at just the ravioli when you can have the sweet italian sausage and peppers.
DSC05473_zps7e8c5ddb.jpg
Great choices.............those both look really good!!! :thumbsup2

somehow he had time to admire the trains though and forgot all about his mickey bar when we went by germany though.

what can i say the kid loves trains.
DSC05479_zps739c65b1.jpg
I can see that. And just look at that happy face!!! :cool1:

i really wanted the brat in pretzel roll here, but with the looks that i was getting for not finding the mickey bar, i passed on it.
DSC05481_zps474db11b.jpg

despite the beer stand the brewers collection in germany REALLY calling my name, i knew that getting the beer would not be a wise choice,
You passed on BEER?????? Wow, you WERE on a mission!!!

nothing peaked my interest to much at south africa.
DSC05484_zps7f0797bd.jpg
I don't know, that Seared Beef and Sweet Potatoes sounds pretty good to me. ::yes::

norway was next on the list, and of a kid cot stop was in the cards as well...the CM's here were more intersted in coloring there own duffys than interacting with the kids, but parker didnt seem to notice at all, which was good, but us parents did take note of it.
I guess they are just really into their work....................... :confused3

noelle once again was in hyper mode and took to grabbing stuffed animals and sprinting across the store to me to show them to me.

DSC05491_zps0f88a6ca.jpg
Gone in 60 Seconds??? :rotfl:

Nice update! Great to see just how much Noelle has gotten into everything since the start of the trip!!! :goodvibes

yep funny how they can get side tracked and go for other things when just a few minutes ago they HAD to have the ice cream.
Wonder where he gets that from? At least if you substitute beer for ice cream............. :rolleyes1

Not sure, but it seems like you did a really good job of it............ :scratchin
it was for lack of trying either.

Hot dogs? Apple pie? Chevrolet??? Oh wait............... :rolleyes2

Great choices.............those both look really good!!! :thumbsup2

I can see that. And just look at that happy face!!! :cool1:
those were two very very very good dishes, we would get them again without even thinking about it.

the kid loves his trains what can i say.

i know passed on lots of beer for that ice cream bar.

i saw someone walking with it and it didnt look as good as it sounds, but might have been okay.

she was really getting into thats for sure, will make the next trip that much better when she can really interact with everything.

he takes after his pops what can i say.

Chapter 57. Still searcing for that mickey bar.

After leaving the kid station in norway we ventured on toward mexico...seeing mexico parker declared that we HAD to stop to ride his favorite ride mexico small world.

DSC05493_zps1168bf4c.jpg

i see he is forgetting the ice cream mission but a ride is a ride so we headed inside.

the three caballeros

DSC05494_zps4190c4c2.jpg

i was happy with my low light function no flash pics on this ride but will just share one to not bore you guys.
DSC05495_zps16047ce9.jpg

upon exiting the ride, we found the pressed penny machine where parker made a penny of the new favorite ride for his book.
DSC07585_zps9a4eefa6.jpg

and sharing the love of hat pictures the kids got into the spirit
DSC07587_zps9b3250ab.jpg

parker more so than noelle.
DSC07586_zps592526f3.jpg

she was more of yeah okay dad you took your picture now let me out of this hat, i might see someone i know and you are embarrasing me.
DSC07588_zps2af78446.jpg

with mexico donald under our belts, we headed off to get a picture that we had missed so far during the day, our photopass pic with the icon of the park.
Photo1009FourBySix_zps23bdf638.jpg

which as quickly followed by a stop at club cool, i mean you cant stop there and not try and force someone into drinking the beverly right?

looks like a couple of people who are not going to fall for the beverly drink.
:scratchin
DSC07589_zpsb0d8be8c.jpg

nope no dice, they didnt fall for it...me i tried them all of course even the beverly but with the kids being antsy we didnt get the pictures of it.

it was about this time noelle fell asleep in the stroller.
DSC07590_zpsc090424c.jpg

and with still an hour till illuminations was suppose to start we made the decision that since it was raining on and off and we were not even sure they would start them at the right time that we would head out of the park.

but first stopped in the food and wine festival center to pick up a few things.

we got a set of wine glasses, and a food and wine pin for me.

and tried to get a bottle of the category 5 wine candi liked in FL but they were sold out so we just took our purchases with us and of course went into mouse gears since it was right on the way out of the park.

we didnt get anything but did end up trading vinylmations, the first 3 that we picked, me, candi, and parker were dudes...

noelle picked a AK 10 year anniversary one and we chose to swap that out with ours.

after we left with our new vinylmation friend, we walked past the innovations which we didnt realize closed at 7 and we missed out on showing that to parker this trip, but we did find the glowing optics light in the cement around the building that he enjoyed.

DSC05504_zps38ca5628.jpg

towards the entrance i asked parker if he wanted a picture just me and him with the ball behind us and he said sure,so he hopped up on my shoulders for this one.
Photo1014FourBySix_zps95d0e796.jpg

and with that we left the park.

but you might be wondering about that mickey bar, and if you were not wondering about it then im sure you are now.

we didnt see any stands with them in future world either, so it was not meant to be this day.

we made it back to the resort, but as we walked through the food shop parker and i made a bee line for the freezer case.......

and low and behold.

he got his ice cream mickey bar.
DSC07591_zps4edce008.jpg

:cool1::banana::wizard:

now we are not sure if the events of this day caused what will happen the next day but lets just save that for another time shall we.

::yes::

Mexico is our favorite country. So nice and cool in there. Plus, you have the 3 calballeros as you know :goodvibes

Nice photopass pics

Glad Parker was able to get his ice cream treat back at resort :mickeybar

What a quest and then getting it back at the resort. Parker was patient.

Innoventions closing early makes me :sad1: I have done the same thing several times. :sad2:

My favorite time to do the 3 Caballeros is right after Illuminations on a EMH night. Glad Parker loves it.

I am curious to see what happened the next day...

Hey, I found your TR recently and have been reading and now I am finally caught up. :)

Reading you TR has been most helpful as we will be going to AoA this fall with 2 four year olds and 2 one year olds. So seeing how your kids handle the park has been incredibly helpful.

We currently have ADRs at T-Rex and I am getting a little nervous. :scared: We are definitely rethinking that one.

But it was cool to see Parker get so into the pressed pennies, now I am thinking we need to take some change.

Don't you hate it when you decide to get something you've seen everywhere...and suddenly can't find it? Poor Parker - he was a trooper as he waited for his Mickey bar!

As for F&W offerings, I tried the beef in South Africa and the lettuce wrap (South Korea? Now that I'm replying to you I'm drawing a blank). They were both pretty darn tasty! And there were a bunch of others that I would've liked to try, but I was in the same boat as you - we were toting three hot and tired kids along with us that weren't interested in any of it. ;) Glad you two got to try some of the drinks you wanted to, though!

Hey Fauntleroy!

Been out for a while, but I've been catching up as I have time. My son loves 3 Caballeros also!

I am working on a super secret plan for a camping trip the end of next month...any tips on Fort Wilderness for a tent camper? I haven't been there since 1983 and I read your report on the trip you took with your parents...anything to watch out for or really focus on doing?

Thanks for posting the great Trs. I don't know how I'd get through the non Disney parts of my year without y'all. :badpc:

I'm back and slowly catching up, Dan. Great updates. Love the sombrero hat...Mark would be very proud.

Some great family pictures in the latest update! So glad Parker finally got rewarded for his patience! :goodvibes
