Surprise!! We laughed, we cried, we lost a child, we did American Idol!! FINISHED

Don't leave us in suspense! :hyper:

I am not sure I did... :goodvibes go back just one post! :) It was so much fun!

CONGRATS!!! :cheer2: I could never have done that!!

I would do it again given the chance, and if it wouldn't take such a chunk of the day away for the kids...I think everyone should try it once

This is a GREAT Trip Report! I am enjoying it so much!!Thanks for sharing your magical trip!!

Thanks! This is fun to write it down...and now I can come back and relive it anytime I want! :upsidedow

Hi! I found your TR and really enjoying it. The surprise to the kids was great! Can't wait to hear more. :)

You have a beautiful voice. American Idol would be honored to have you on their real show. Can't wait to read more of your trip

WOW!!! @ AIE!!! :thumbsup2 You are far more braver than I! And double EWWWWWWWWWW about your toliet. Our mousekeeping was great all week about towel animals and leaving roses in our cups and hidden mickey's with our soaps, but I kept my eyes on some mysterious debris all week on the floor in the bathroom that never went away. It was like a crumb or something so it didn't bother me a whole heck of a lot, I just found it interesting that they never swept the bathroom all week!!

Love all the pics! Keep 'em coming!

Thank you so much...I love singing and wish I wasn't too old to try out for the real show...but I will take this experience...it was so much fun!

I am going to try and find that toilet picture...It was very disgusting...our bathroom floor was always swept...but no towel animals for us...or hidden mickeys :( They did do a Mickey out of three rolls of towels so that wasn't bad!

How totally thrilling doing AI must have been! Congrats on making it as far as you did.

I once had my DS do the same thing on an elevator at a hotel that your son did. He didn't get on with the rest of us. He was too afraid. He was 5 at the time. It turned out okay. He stayed put and we found him but it is just an awful feeling as that door closes and you can see him on the other side. I'm glad it turned out okay for you as well.

Did I miss where your parents are staying?

I am embarassed to say I don't know where they stayed...off site and bigger than our value resort room I'm sure! :)

Thankfully your son knew to stay put...that could have been complicated had he walked away!

Day 3!

Ok...I found the picture of the toilet. Had it not been this yucky I wouldn't have said anything. :crazy2:

IMG_1627.jpg

So that was yesterday morning...and when we came back last night it was squeaky clean...but as I was getting in the shower I accidently bumped one of the rolls of toilet paper off the toilet tank. What I saw under the toilet paper wasn't quite as gross as the above picture, but after being promised the VIP cleaning treatment I expected a little more than that. So I wet down a wash cloth and ran it over the toilet tank. I folded it up and when we left for the morning we went and spoke to the manager. They agreed it was too dirty and they said they would be sending the cleaning manager to our room and they would inspect it and even do bacterial swabs and guarantee that the room will be sufficiently cleaned. I wasn't looking for perfection, but I was looking for clean. I was satisfied that everything would be taken care of...

...so off to the opening of the Magic Kingdom for us. We have never seen this show and we were thankful to have a nice spot right in front of the train station! Again we were hoping for Meema and Peepa to join us for the opening...but alas we witnessed it alone. I recommend making it to the opening ceremonies if you don't mind waking up early. It added even more magic to the day!

Well, during the loud opening ceremony Michael realized he forgot his earplugs at the resort so we headed off to first aid to aquire some. Thankfully they had some in stock. They gave us an extra pair...which was nice. Turns out Michael liked these much better than the tub of 40 I bought for the trip. :upsidedow

We returned to the train station after getting the earplugs and saw a small line for Pluto! We jumped right in...

6 months ago when we were leaving the Magic Kingdom, Michael confessed he was sad he hadn't taken more pictures with the charaters...so I was tickled when he jumped into almost all the pictures we took!

n590345892_1389789_9146.jpg

Meema and Peepa made it while we were waiting in line so we hopped over to the castle for quick photos before heading off to our opening ride. Thankfully Meema was finally feeling better!!! YAY!!! Care to venture a guess as what was our unanimous vote for 1st ride? Ponder that while you look at the next pictures...

n590345892_1389791_9499.jpg

The sun...do you see the sun?! YAY!

n590345892_1389793_9863.jpg

Ok...was that enough time to guess our opening ride? Carousel of Progress. One of our favorites! After that we got to see Stitch. Now me, I don't care much for the movie, or the charater...but Michael and Elsa LOVE him! That rascal stole our Pal Mickey and kept squeezing him trying to get him to talk to us...

n590345892_1389803_1305.jpg

We rode the rest of the rides in Tomorrow Land except for Speedway. This was a first time for us riding Astro Orbiter. Peepa had to sit this one out as he can't do the round-about rides. Space Mountain...yes. The Carousel and Astro Orbiter...no. :(

We were hungry (apparently the pop-tarts for breakfast just aren't cutting it  ) so we thought we would break for an early lunch at Cosmic Rays...and on our way we ran into PUSH the talking trash can. What a treat!!!

n590345892_1389804_1671.jpg

This was another first! The kids got such a kick out of him. During lunch all Elsa wanted to do was to go back and see PUSH...so she ate quickly and saved stuff to throw into PUSH if we ran into him again. Michael's medicine causes him to feel full at lunch so he was irritated that we were sitting down to eat...and he was grumpy that Cosmic Ray was under refurbishment. The kids struggled to understand the idea behind making it better. They think Disney should stay the way it is. This was an on going discussion with them throughout the remainder of the trip.

We ate, left the way we came, and much to our suprise PUSH was still out. That made Elsa's day! She fed him her scraps and PUSH remembered both of their names. pixiedust:

We moved onto Fantasy Land and rode everything here...except Mickeys Phillharmagic because it was being refurbished...so that prompted more discussion about why Disney was changing stuff. I could see Michael was getting more and more overwhelmed by the minute...and then he saw a bee. The boy has a serious (if not irrational) fear of bees. So we spent the next hour or so assuring him no bees were on his head  .

Up next...Would he recover? And a bigger question...To ride Splash Mountain or not to ride it...was it warm enough or were we crazy for considering it?

Great TR so far! Just a few comments:

My paternal grandparents are called Meema and Peepa as well.
Elsa's bag in one of the airport pics, the Tink messanger one--I have the same!
Congrats on the AIE! It looks like a blast; they were still creating it when I went last August.

I am enjoying reading this and I am going back in May to CBR pirate room YEA!!!! I want to do AIE but will I who knows. I got picked for the Indiana Jones stunt show and it was lots of fun. My kids got a kick out of it.:rotfl2:

Can't wait to read more

We were lucky to get the bags when they were on sale and the monogramming was free!

I've never heard of others being called Meema and Peepa...do you still call them that? :)

I recommend trying AIE if you get the chance...it was so fun!

My kids loved that show! I thought it was very charming :)

I am in desperate need of sleep...but having so much fun reliving our trip :goodvibes

UGHHH! I was just sitting down to eat breakfast when I logged on to your last installment. The toilet picture did nothing to whet my appetite.

My kids aren't big on change either. Myself I'm still getting over the fact that they changed the song in the carosal of progress. I loved the old one.

As we resume, I'd like to give you a better understanding of my Michael :cool1:

Michael was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder...a functional autism), Tourettes, and ADHD at the age of 7. He tends to struggle in social situations, has many irrational fears, often has sensory overloads, and is a stickler for rules! :)

How does this translate into a Disney Mom's responsibilites while visiting the Happiest Place on earth? Basically just more grace, more patience, a lot of thinking outside of the box, and a good sense of humor. :rotfl:

Now back to your regularly scheduled Trip Report:

So here we were in Fantasy Land and things are going down hill quickly for Michael. It was the stupid bees fault if you ask me. Actually I think I blame Disney for not obliterating all of Floridas bees. :lmao: We decided to stop and get a good game plan. Now, I don't see any reason for sitting for a parade if we haven't secured good seats. First off, I am only 5 foot 2...and both my kids are shorter than me...so planning ahead for the parades is a must (in my opinion). Secondly, Elsa gets herself all worked up if she isn't front and center...seeing as she shows a lot of sisterly patience I don't mind to try to facilitate this request.

My solution was to send Meema, Peepa, Elsa, and Michael to ride Haunted Mansion while I saved us some seats. And so this is what we did! :) I sat and happily chatted with a gregarious 5 year old boy, Patrick. He sure kept me laughing. Meems and Peeps soon returned with the treat of Itzakadoozies and ice creams! Way to go Meems and Peeps!

We settled in for the parade (well, most of us did...Michael stood way behind us in the shade shielding his head from the bee that was no longer anywhere near us). This was only the second day of this new parade...it was well put together, but if I had to vote, I vote for last years afternoon parade. Maybe the kids idea of no refurbishments was rubbing off on me. :lmao:

So the parade is done and we are near the mountains...but we can't seem to agree on whether it was warm enough to ride Splash Mountain or not. Peepa emphatically stated it was, Michael was leaning towards Peepa's point of view, cold weather doesn't keep Elsa from riding stuff, but Meema and I are were not buying it...I know I didn't want to be miserable if we got wet.

Somehow Peepa talked us all into riding it...and I blame him for what was about to transpire.

We wisked right through the Fast Pass and quickly entered our boat. Michael and I in the front, Meems, Peeps, and Elsa right behind us. Here's the deal with Splash Mountain...getting wet is expected. Getting soaked down to your underwear is not...at least that hasn't happen any of the numerous times I had ridden this ride before. We just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. We were turning a corner at the beginning of the ride and were parrallel to the big drop and we got EVERY SINGLE drop of their water splash. It was as if someone had dumped buckets of water on each of our heads. We looked like drowned rats. We laughed through the rest of the ride...what else can ya do? Right?!! :confused3

I don't remember what the temperature was, but trust me...it was too cold to be wet for the evening parade...and there was no way Meema's pants were going to dry. Everyone was soaked...Michael's sweat shirt was actually dripping wet...we kept wringing water out of it. The plan was hatched that Elsa, Meema, and I would take a bus back to the resort and throw our clothes (and the boys sweatshirts) in the dryer and Peepa and Michael would head out and see what they could ride. So off we went back to the resort.

Another thing about Elsa is she goes and goes and goes without complaint...so when she takes a break she zonks out! Who knew the bus seats were so comfortable? :)

n590345892_1389806_2385.jpg

While the girls were at the resort drying clothes and showing Meems the lay of the land, the boys went on Thunder Mountain and Pirates of the Carribean. On our way back to MK, I called Peepa and asked him to save us a good spot for for the Spectromagic Parade. I could tell he needed us to come back soon and tag team with him for Michael's benefit. :p

As the sun went down we were thankful for our toasty DRY clothes...it made a much more enjoyable viewing experience for Spectromagic. I hope they NEVER change this parade. It gives me chills and such enjoyment. pixiedust:

When it was over we speed walked over for a good spot for Wishes and everyone was lighthearted, full of Disney joy, having a splendid time.

Wishes was just as magical as ever. :goodvibes But now the park was closed  Because it was Meema and Peepa's last day we decided to walk around and see Tommorow Land in all of its lighted glory...but what was this?!!! People boarding rides? Wasn't the park closed? No! We were mistaken!!! :cheer2: We had a good 40 minutes left...bonus minutes!

We quickly rode Buzz and went to get in line for Space Mountain...but sadly it was not up and running. So we jumped on Buzz again. Peepa crushed all our scores again...how does he do that? :) Then we had a choice to make...we had time for one more ride...what would we choose? We decided to end the day the way we started it. Carousell of Progress. A perfect way to bookend in the day! :goodvibes

And then all too quickly it was time to say goodbye to Meema and Peepa.

Next up: How would Animal Kingdom go without the support of Meema and Peepa?

So sorry! :rotfl2: It really was nasty!

Ok lets have more love it so far.

Your wish is my command :)

WOOH!
Haha, I'm here :thumbsup2 .
YES, ride Splash!!

We did...against my better judgement ;)

I love your trip report so far, especially the part about AI. You sure were brave to do that but if I had your voice, I would have done it too. :thumbsup2
