We are leaving in 3 days for the happiest place on earth and I'm so excited I'm about to burst. My DD, Hayley (8) has no idea we are going!!!

We just had a baby girl, Caya (6months) in November and we are so proud of Hayley for the way she has handled everything. She is the best big sister...so loving, nurturing and giving and has shown no signs of jealousy (yet)! We wanted to do something very special for her to let her know how much we love and appreciate her. She's been dying to go back to Disney since our last trip in 12/2003. We keep telling her maybe over Christmas this year but little does she know......

We have been planning this trip since the day my maternity leave was over. She thinks we are leaving Saturday morning to take DH to the airport for a golf trip in FL and then us girls are going to spend the day at the Indy zoo. She feels so sorry for me because she thinks DH is leaving ON my birthday. We plan pull right up to the ATA entrance and curbside check our luggage. If she stays in the car, she'll never know what's going on outside. Then she, Caya and I will go in and wait for DH to park the car. We are going to web check in the night before so we can go straight to the gate. I made her an autograph book and I'm going to give her that along with a letter I wrote her telling her where we are going and why. I can't wait to see her sweet little face. :cloud9:

I have more surprises for her throughout the trip...some are just small things but surprises none the less. One of her friends and his parents are going along with us which will be so nice for her to have someone her age to do stuff with. My sister and nephew live in FL and are driving to Disney for a day. We have reservations at Cinderella's and Akershus that she won't know about until each day. I've also picked up a few small disney things to give her throughout the week.

Thanks for letting me share my story. You are all so wonderful! I love these boards!!! Hopefully, now that I have told someone I won't burst!!!!! :earboy2:

I got sooo excited reading your post! What a great idea and to be able to hold it in...I know I would have burst by now and told her about the trip!!

Only 3 days left.....I wish I could be there to watch this unfold :)

Surprises are the best!

Enjoy

Angela

***maybe, just maybe....If Im strong enough, I will try this the next time

So it has been raining here all month and today has been a horrible day... Your post made cry and then brought a smile to my face.. Sounds like you are lucky to have a great kid and she is Lucky to have you guys... have a great trip!!

I hope you have a video camera to catch her suprise when she reads the letter.:) Your dd sounds like the sweetest princess. princess: She's worried about your birthday, etc. :) Very sweet.

We had a similar idea, but we are driving and we weren't going to tell them where we were going and just pull up to the gates. They knew we were considering traveling all over Michigan this summer. But, I couldn't resist. I blew it and had to share with them my excitment. Good for you for keeping it a surprise!

Hiya! :wave2:

I think that your daughter is so well adjusted and loving because she has a nice kind loving mom to show her how it is done!

Awww, you are all too kind. I'm sorry for the tears I caused! :) Thank you so much for all of the kind words. I promise to post as soon as we get home. I love reading everyone else's stories but usually I'm just a lurker on these boards. I'm glad I finally had something to share! :) And even more glad other enjoyed it. ~Nikky~

ps My daughter really is a special little girl. I assure you I'm the lucky one!

So awesome!!! I really love to hear about things like this, amke sure you take a blank book for you to journal in as you go so you cna keep all of your memories (and file a great trip report, of course)

That sounds wonderful! You have to tell us how the surprise turns out!! :goodvibes :wizard:

Don't worry. I have a small business and we create paper crafts of all kinds. I made an autograph book, a travel journal for Hayley & Caya (I'll do that one but she'll have it for her scrapbook) with questions, trivia and blank pages and a blank one for myself. They turned out cute...maybe that will be next post...pictures! :)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share our surprise story with you. It went off without a hitch. My DD, Hayley, thought my husband was going on a golf trip with one of his buddies, Mike, and that we were dropping him off at the Indy airport where we would meet up with Mike's family. The guys were to get on a plane and the Moms and kids were going to head to the Indy zoo.

We pulled up to the curb-side check-in and I asked Hayley to wait in the car with Caya (DD-6 months) while we got all of the luggage out. I was able to check us all in and then got DD's out of the car so DH could go park. When he got back we went all the way to the gate and sat down to wait. I had made Hayley a card and written a letter inside. I video taped while she read it out loud. The letter just thanked her for being such a good big sister and told her how proud we were of her. It ended with we couldn't think of a better way to let you know just how much we love and appreciate you...

She had to lift the page and written underneat it said "We're going to Disneyworld!!! (right now)"

She was in complete shock trying to figure out how we had pulled this off. She was somewhat confused and concerned about my husband's golf trip. She cried and thanked us about 3000 times and the whole way there she was asking someone to pinch her because she thought she was dreaming.

I love my family so much....I could not have asked for a better birthday present!!!!

That is so amazing!! Congrats on pulling it all off. You must have a lot of Tinkerbell in you! :wizard:

Be sure to tell us how the whole trip went.

Wow...what a nice story! You sound like a fantastic Mom with a great little girl! Hope your trip was fantastic!

That is the sweetest story! I'm really glad everything worked out so you could pull off that surprise...what a wonderful memory for all of you to think back on. Your little girl sounds very special. :goodvibes l
